Why do you need me to give you a link? Why can’t you just go to scholar.google.com and type breastfeeding and child development and read the literature? 🤷

You need to read yourself the evidence and look at the body of literature. I cannot do it for you.
Because it’s your ridiculous claim. If you have evidence for it, let’s have it.

The breastfeeding literature says a lot of things. However, in a very large study that looked at outcomes between siblings who were breastfed vs. bottlefed, there were no differences in any area except asthma (the breastfed children were more likely to have asthma). Here’s a link to a summary:

researchnews.osu.edu/archive/sibbreast.htm

But this is kind of tangential to the OP’s situation. The OP has breastfed her baby for 18 months. Right now, what she’s doing isn’t working for her family, or helping her child learn not to whine; she’s looking for advice on how to improve a most stressful situation for everyone concerned.

True, and I suspect that there’s a good chance that weaming the baby alone wouldn’t stop the whining. My 18 month old does seek affection from me when he’s frustrated about something, even though he stopped breastfeeding months ago. He just wants to lean on my shoulder and calm down a minute. It’s kind of cute because he actually pats my back when he’s calming down. But after a minute, I put him down and he’s fine. Maybe it might help the OP to have some sort of time limit established. Okay, you’re crying, here’s a hug. Let’s sing a cute song and when it’s over, I’ll put you down and you can chill out.
