Is the 1899 edition of the Duoay Rheims published by St Benedict’s Press the Challoner revision or the original Duoay Rheims?

If so, then is there any way to purchase the ORIGINAL Duoay Rheims Bible? Ebay or Amazon? Thanks
 
This is an important point about the original version of the Douay-Rheims: “Much of the text of the 1582/1610 bible, however, employed a densely latinate vocabulary, to the extent of being in places unreadable.”

St. Benedict’s Press is the Challoner I am rather certain.

I’ve bought the Original Douai Rheims through Lulu. The version with updated spelling (and no other updates) that Dr. von Peters put out.

Priceless purchase. I highly recommend it. There -is no- more faithful English Bible to the Latin.

Precise words matter.

You can also get a fascimile version with the archaic spelling too. This latter site source I haven’t tried myself and sometimes the website is done, if you try again later it tends to be up again.

I have the copy ot the 1992 Catholic Treasures, printed from the 1859 Duoay-Rheims with Haydock commentary and I love it. I’m not sure whether this a Challoner translation. 👍

It’s the Challoner revision of the Douay Rhiems Bible.

I have the Dr. von Peters original Douay in print (4 large volumes). It is expensive but useful.
