1917 Code of Canon Law

[tobinatorstark]

Does anyone know where I can find an online copy or a place I can download the 1917 Code of Canon Law in English? I have the 1983 Code of Canon Law in English downloaded to my computer. I want to see the differences between the two. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I can tell, only the Latin version of the 1917 Code of Canon Law is available online, here.

An English version of the 1917 Code of Canon Law, translated by Edward N. Peters, is available at amazon.com, here.

I am not interested in purchasing nor am I looking for the Latin version. I just want to find where I can download a copy to my computer

I also searched the internet and Todd is right. There is no English version available for downloading. The only downloadable version is in Latin. If you want English you have to buy a hardcopy.

I’ve been looking for the same thing, online in English

my main purpose was to compare the two and look for differences

Hello Tobinatorstark,

Yes, it is sad but true. You will not find a real english translation of the 1917 Code for downloading. You might find some of it paraphrased here or there but that’s about all. Dr. Peters’ translation was the first one into English and is the only one there is.
