QUOTE, AJV
A 1955 missal with the changes of the Holy Week would be usable at a 1962 Mass.
Jacafamala:
How do I know if mine has this?
AJV:
Does the Gospel on Palm Sunday include the Institution of the Holy Eucharist or does it start with Christ in Gethsemane?
My missal starts with Gethsemane. Which would be the change? Is it the Gospel that starts with the Institution of the Holy Eucharist, or is it the Gospel that starts with Christ in Gethemane?

Your missal has the revised Holy Week. The revised Holy Week has the Gospel beginning with Gethsemane.

Prior to that the Gospel didn’t begin with the Holy Eucharist but that was part of it- it began with Jesus speaking to His disciples and then the story of the woman who anointed His feet.

Good. I’m glad I can use it.🙂 Thanks.

One more thing: do you know of any good links that further explain how to use the missal?

Hey, I also found a 1957 missal laying around on one of our bookshelves. Both the 1955 and thew 1957 belonged to my father-in-law, (God rest his soul.) We inherited a lot of his vast book collection…Man, he’d be rolling in his grave if he knew we’re using them now, heh, heh, (sorry Clem.) He became very liberal as he got older. Both his old missals are in very good condition. My mom says she thinks my dad’s missal is still around, and I can have it. (God rest his soul) Wouldn’t it be cool if it’s a ’ 62? Here’s hoping so.👍
