Hi,

I’m going to be going more often to the TLM (FSSP), so I thought it fitting that I should buy a missal.

The one I’m looking at is a reprint of the Marian Daily Missal from 1958: aquinasandmore.com/catholic-books/Marian-Daily-Missal-Black-Leather/sku/59491

My question is this: what are the differences between a 1958 and a 1962 missal?
In 1962 St Joseph was added to the Canon: to Communicantes

We pray in union with and honor the memory , especially of the glorious ever Virgin Mary, mother of our God and Lord Jesus Christ: as also of the blessed Joseph, her Spouse,

Also some new Saints and other changes may be added, and some saints were reduced to commemoration between 1958 and 1962, the overall qualification changed.

The major change was in 1955 but Pius XII forbade new missal, so probably his changes (deletion of Octaves, deletion of some Vigils etc) are not represented in the 1958 missal.

The additional prayers (pro Papa, Pro Ecclesia, etc) are listed in the 1962 missal, but not to be prayed.

It is possible that the 1958 Missal does not represents the New Triduum especially Holy Saturday rites.
