Hello fellow traditional Catholics,

I have started attending (Deo Gratias) the Extraordinary form relatively frequently (once a week). Since I am not as of yet certain as to how much longer I will be able to do so due to personal circumstances, I would very much like to buy a cheap secondhand Missal for the time being.

I don’t want to spend that kind of money for a new Baronius/Angelus version, since I might not use it much after all. Are there any good secondhand stores that sell the Missal in London? Or any websites where I can actually see the state of the Missal before buying it?

Many thanks in advance

I can’t, unfortunately, answer your question. However, I was in a similar position and wasn’t sure I could justify the money for a 1962 missal. I ended up buying the Baronius missal after much debate and I am SO glad I did. The missal is a treasure in itself, especially regarding morning and evening prayers. I love studying the TLM, even when I am unable to attend. If you love the TLM, I advise you to just buy the Baronius missal if you can afford it. I have never regretted the purchase!

Keep an eye on Ebay. I have purchased several used 1962 missals from them. (some as cheap as $10.00). 😃

Hi JMR, thanks for your help. I can afford the Baronius Missal but the reason why I was looking for something cheaper is that I have no idea about whether I’ll still be able to attend EF Mass in the future. I don’t want to spend that kind of money on something that might not be useful to me anymore in a while.
Would you say that the ‘extras’ (eg. devotions, vespers, prayers, etc) that are included are per se worth the price? If so, I will buy it.
I already have two other books by Baronius (the ‘maxi’ Bible and the Little Office of the BVM) and have found them exceptional so I do trust that the product itself is great, just wondering if worth buying.
