I am trying to reconstruct the 1962 Missale Romanum O.C.D., and have started a project blog for this purpose.

ctocds.blogspot.com/

If anyone has access to a pre-1969 Discalced Carmelite Missal (even the 1964-66 transitional Missals), please let me know. I need to find copies of 3 solemn and 4 ferial tones for the proper Discalced Carmelite prefaces, and I have a question about the Ordo Missae. And if you find any typos, please let me know…

Thanks and God bless,

Fr. Boyd

Can’t help, Father, but I was wondering about the feast In desponsatione B. Mariae V. cum S. Ioseph. The 1961 document on Particular calendars no. 33 suppressed this feast along with several others recalling events/titles of Jesus and Mary such as the Maternity, Purity, Eucharistic Heart,Holy House of Loretto, the ‘Passion’ feasts, etc… It did permit the retention of the feast if it had a certain connection - presumably the Dis. Carmelites may have not petitioned for retention of this or perhaps it was denied?

Thank you. This is exactly the kind of help I need! Do you know where I could find a copy of the document, or whether or not it also called for the the suppression of the feast of the Dedication of All Consecrated Churches (Aug. 31st)? May God reward you!

Dear Father,
If you pm me your email address I can mail the document to you (only in Latin, sorry). You might try the editions of the American Ecclesiastical Review, if you are able to - they had an Analecta section that was regularly updated with such documents (and might have an English translation). Also the Canon Law Digest might prove useful. I don’t have access to them at present or I’d have hunted for it for you myself.

Would you accept the Carmelite Rite of the Holy Sepulchre?
Thanks, I appreciate the offer… but I really need Discalced Carmelite texts, since I am a Secular (Third) Order Discalced Carmelite priest. The O.C.D. never used the Carmelite rite. I have the O. Carm. preface tones, but there are some unique neumes, and it isn’t immediately obvious how the Roman rite tones could be reliably recovered.

Father, you should send an email to the editor of the popular New Liturgical Movement Blog. He has an abundance of liturgical resources and is always willing to assist others. He might also be willing to post something on the blog to see if anyone has the answers to your questions and any of the resources you need. His email is stribe@rogers.com
