1st Meeting w/Vocations Director - - What Should I Expect?

I have my very first meeting scheduled with the Vocation Director of my diocese. I am requesting to be considered as a diocesan hermit under Canon 603. I have been living the life for the past 5 years.

What should I expect at this first meeting? Any suggestions or experience from others would be most appreciated. I’m a bit anxious and very excited at the same time.

Congratulations!

He will most likely ask you how your faith is and what makes you think you have this calling. He will give you information on the process of becoming a hermit and what to do next. He may be also able to help you figure out what you be doing while/before you take the next step. It was easy for my vocation director to help me because he knew me well because he was parochial vicar at my parish for eight months. Be prepared to talk a little bit about how you are moving along on your faith journey.

Oh no. Haha. I was just trying to relate to the topic. I was talking to my VD on priestly vocations. I was just thinking that the format would be the same. My bad! 😃
 
I’m the original poster, so here is a follow up:

I met today with my diocese’s vocation director. He was extremely helpful and very nice; put me at ease (yes, my heart was pounding!) He basically wanted to know how did I become aware of eremetic life, what was I doing to pursue it and discern it. He was encouraging about becoming a diocesan hermit (🙂 )

So the next thing he suggested I do is to speak to my priest and get his approval (or at least that he doesn’t have any objections) and go from there.
