Tomorrow I’ll be bringing a friend to his first and my first tridentine mass. Any tips on what to wear, what to do so as to participate as fully and also various protocol that we may not be aware of. Thanks.
Wear modest, presentable clothing as you would at any Mass. You might get lost in the missal since much of the Mass is silent. Perhaps you could sit next to someone who can help you follow along with the missal & gestures. Remember that true participation is uniting yourself with the priest in offering the Sacrifice, so don’t stress yourself out with the missal.
Great advice so far. I would add that the daily Mass will probably be a low Mass. So, as has been stated, it will be pretty silent for much of the prayers. I would suggest watching a video of a low Mass on your computer tonight, then when you go just follow what everyone else does. It usually takes several visits before a “newby” becomes comfortable. It is an intellectual/spiritual experience.
