I’ve been going to Mass twice for the last several Sundays. I would go to one Mass in the morning and then go to a different parish for an evening Mass. I like the morning one because its at a real and traditional church. The evening one is at a student center (with lots of adults there too) and I’m a student.

I’m wondering if its fine to keep doing this (attending two Masses a day and attending two different parishes), or if I need to choose which one to stick with permanently, especially since I’m free-riding and not often putting any money in the collection basket.

You can go to both Masses.

Its also okay to attend Mass, even if you are unable to make a donation to the collection at Mass.

Enjoy both parishes.

I agree, enjoy both parishes. I have often gone to Sunday Mass at my own Church in the AM and Evening at the Newman Center.
God bless,
Mary.

Why would that be an issue?! Go to as many as you like!
Pax Christi!

Absolutely! But please remember that both Masses are “real” and there is nothing about the more traditional Mass that makes it better. Except that you seem to get more out of it.

Also, I believe there is a limit to how often we can partake of Holy Communion: for some reason twice daily is all we’re allowed. Why, I don’t know.

God bless!

You can attend mass as many times as you like, and receive twice in one day.

This is according to the CCC#1388-it says that as long as it is at separate mass celebrations,in case the link does not work and it only twice a day for communion.

As for donations: It is wise to donate on a regular basis to the parish you are registered with so that if the time comes that you need a sponsor letter or some proof of good standing you are counted as a member. The pastor will use the donation schedule for mass attendance proof in most cases.

Go to both and enjoy while you have the opportunity.

One thing I have learned over the years is that nothing lasts and we tend to lose something before we gain something.

Chances are good that the time will come when you may have trouble attending even one Mass on Sundays (job, physical limitations, injury or serious illness, family tragedy, financial woes, etc.). Then you can look back and take heart from these days when you were able to attend two Masses and receive Jesus twice.

And I agree about thinking about what’s “real” and what isn’t . I think ? you were referring to the actual church building, not the Mass. But always remember that any valid Mass is “real,” even if it takes place in a plain setting.

When I was in college I went to two Masses. The college Mass felt very informal and I wasn’t being spiritually fulfilled so I attended a local parish for that. I attended Mass at the Newman Center for the community aspect. Both masses were real - I just was able to engage better at the parish Mass.

For some reason I thought there was a limit too but then saw that canon law placed no such limit. The very purpose of a mass is to celebrate the Eucharist.

There is a limit on the amount of times we can receive Holy Communion in a day. We can only receive twice, provided the second time is during the context of a Mass. The only exception to this would be Viaticum.

A priest must receive at every Mass he celebrates, so he is exempt from this law if he is celebrating Mass. However, a priest may only celebrate one Mass a day, unless their ordinary has given them permission to do otherwise.

Don,t worry about going two Masses evrey Sunday, because I do the same,or I,ll go two differtant parishs. The purposes of going is that you want to be in the present of the Lord, and the Lord loves those who come to his house of worship, and don,t worry if you don,t give to the church your at,I,seen many people that don,t give, you should be their to receive the Lord in your Heart.
