I’m in the market to buy a Daily Roman Missal, and I’m wondering what my best option is if I regularly attend Latin mass. Will the Daily Roman Missal include a full Latin mass (responses, prayers, etc…)?

Also, out of curiosity, I read that the readings of the Church are designed to walk a person through the whole Bible in 3 years. Isn’t that if the person reads EVERY day? For the many that do not, they really only get 14% of that year’s third of the Bible???

In the Daily Roman Missal, are the readings for 3 years included? If not, is the Missal only good for one year?

Just not sure which to buy. My old one is 1962/Latin Rite, and I’d like to get a current issue.

The “Daily Roman Missal” (Scepter Publishers and Midwest Theological Forum Inc., 1996, ISBN 0-933932-58-8) has the Latin text as well as the full cycle of readings. This edition has the Jerusalem Bible readings, which is what you want if you live in Australia.

The three year cycle of readings does not cover the whole bible, only selected parts of it.

I attend Daily Mass, too; and I recently discovered “Magnificat”-- have you ever heard of this wonderful publication? They even have a kids version! I heartily recommend a subscription-- “two thumbs up”!

Hope this helps…

Blessings to you during this Advent Season! 🙂

Okay, I feel super stupid-- I just re-read your post and realized you wrote that you attend regular LATIN Mass. Sorry! That’s what I get for trying to homeschool and keep up with the board at the same time…

Anyhow, I don’t think the Magnificat would be helpful after all.

Lucky you, though, finding a regular Latin Mass in your area! 👍

Go Latin, I went ahead and ordered that one. I’m not really picky, and most of the time I don’t even use it that much DURING mass, I just need help with my Latin and the daily readings. I hope it was the best choice!

Thanks!
