I know that if you forget a sin in confession that it is forgiven by you are supposed to mention it next time you go to confession. But, are you bound under sin to say them?

Totally unrelated question…

When you take on the responsibility of becoming a Godparent, what exactly are u saying you will do. I became a Godparent not to long ago and I have pretty much zero contact with the child. Am I sinning by not fulfilling my responsibilities?

  1. It my ease your mind by telling the priest the sins you forgot during last confession, and it is encouraged…however, it is not necessary, nor are you bound under sin, to say them the next time you go to confession…as long as you honestly forgot the sin during the previous confession.
2)You are to provide a good solid Catholic presence and example in your godchild’s life. You should not be under canonical penalty and you must take part in the Sacraments. You must be willing and ready to teach the child our faith if necessary…for instance if the child loses both parents…you will be responsible for making sure they are properly educated and cathechetized (sp?). You should be active in your Godchild’s life. I don’t know if you are sinning, that is not for me to judge…but I know you are not fulfilling the promises you made at that child’s Baptism…

1.Your sins were forgiven—even the ones you didn’t get to mention. But next time you go to confession you need to mention them as an expression of your sorrow and repentance.

Don’t be so shy. Next time tell him that you have more.
