1.) He got on us about the importance of the sacrament of confession.

2.) Reminded us to bow during the creed, and when Christmas comes, we should genuflect.

👍

I guess the first was the prevailing theme because our pastor covered the same topic. Incidentally, for those who hold that Advent is not really a penitential season, I am curious as to why several parishes in my diocese are scheduling Penance services next Wednesday. You normally don’t get penance services during Ordinary Time, just during Advent and Easter. Those parishes having Penance Services are doing so on Wednesday. If I can get my pink eye cleared up, I plan to go.

Regarding the second topic, my PV is very good about leading by example, including the actual genuflection during Christmastime. He is also very good about talking about the importance of confession during this time of year (as well as during Lent).

We hear about the importance of confession a lot, not just during Lent and Advent. 👍 But starting today, we will have daily confession times until Christmas, which certainly makes the excuses for not going dwindle…

I need to remind my convert family about the genuflection.

Prevailing theme? Indeed. My priest also mentioned the importance of regular confession … and also suggested weekday Masses as often as we could attend  👍
