Because we have the ability to process hypothetical and abstract ideas, we have the ability to fear many things that are not natural to fear, compared to other animals.
A bird, with it’s “inferior” intellect, goes about its business in all different weather and doesn’t seem particularly stressed about the state of the economy, politics, and societal morality.
We are given all sorts of rules and regulations and societal normative messages about how to behave, how to interpret our world, and even what we should fear. All animals have fear responses that give them evolutionary adaptive behavior when faced with immediate threat, but when it becomes a way of life then it becomes a blinder to the truth of the kingdom.
I’d say that kingdom vision and knowledge gives us the best of both worlds. When have our human intellect to love and help ourselves and each other, but have lost that false sense of self that always has anxious, prideful, or other busy dialog (“deny yourself”) then we have the advantages of human intellect, without the wasteful cognitive routines of anxiety, fear, pride, anger etc. running such that our intellect ends up working against our better health.
