IN the meantime, I thought it would be helpful to provide an overview of written revelation:

Ex 31:18 18 And when He had made **an end of speaking **with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, **written **with the finger of God.

Why didn’t God maintain oral tradition here, but rather, put an end of speaking, and write it down?

dt 31:9-13 So Moses **wrote this law **and delivered it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Israel. 10 And Moses commanded them, saying: “At the end of every seven years…you shall **read **this law before all Israel in their hearing. 12 Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the LORD your God and carefully observe all the **words **of this law, 13 and that their children, who have not known it, may hear and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess.”

no oral tradition to hand on, just an authoritative written book

josh 24:26 Then Joshua **wrote these words in the Book **of the Law of God.

As I have noted before, and as God notes here with Isaiah, inscripturated revelation is necessary b/c of the inability of sinners to preserve oral tradition without corruption.

Jeremiah 30:2 “Thus speaks the LORD God of Israel, saying: ‘**Write in a book **for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you.

Jer 36:2 Take a scroll of a **book and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you **

For power against temptation, Jesus appealed to the written word, not the well known Pharisaic oral traditions that were widely circulated

God is a book author and publisher. The written word is His preferred medium for revelation to believers today. There are no theopneustos podcasts, radio programs, DVDs, prophets, pastors, magisterium, or popes, It is possible to make a case for theopneustos apostles, but the apostolic gifts have ceased.

OT: what do the initials ‘‘C F G S DG’’ represent?

I think we are making some progress, which I will summarize.

A. Scripture (at least as a foundation) is ‘‘necessary’’. (If I didn’t formally agree with that in this thread before, I hereby so posit. BTW the rules of logic define any argument which attempts to go from the ‘‘specific’’ to the ‘‘universal’’ as a ‘‘fallacy’’ and thus invalid.)

A 2 There are approximately an equal number of specific Scriptural references to the validity of ‘‘teaching’’ as there are to ‘‘writing’’

B. For those and solely those truly enlightened by the Holy Spirit, Scripture can be ‘‘sufficient’’

C. The Apostles (as opposed to disciples) were specially gifted by the Holy Spirit to safely interpret Scripture.

D. Christ promised Peter (per se) that this guidance from the Holy Spirit would be ‘‘for ever’’, so therefore it is necessary that there be at least one special group that the Spirit will guide or to use your term be heir to the ‘‘theopneustos apostles’’

E. Those particular gifts of the Holy Spirit dealing with ‘‘prophesy’’, ‘‘tongues’’, and ‘‘knowledge’’ will cease (your citation from 1 Corinthians 13:8 uses the future tense, so I must assume — to be Scripturally congruent — that your use of the past perfect tense was a typo) ‘‘when the perfect comes’’.

F. The ‘‘perfect’’ has not yet ‘‘come’’.

G. Scripture says and we both agree that there are disciples (as opposed to the Apostles) who are not so enlightened and that their souls are at peril from any misinterpreting (the ‘‘Misinformed’’).

H. For these Misinformed, it is necessary that Christ would institute a special group to adjudicate those Scriptural interpretations which are safe for their souls.

I. These Misinformed might constitute a significant portion of the Mystical Body (whose ‘‘Head’’ you addressed above) or the church (lower case).

J. As a result Scripture interpretation cannot be a democracy in which majority rules.

K. For this necessary Special Group to adjudicate interpretations, I have used the Catholic term ‘‘Ministerial Church’’ and you say that Protestants have used the Greek term ‘‘ekklesia’’ or “called-out ones”.

We are in agreement on the above, are we not?

Then we now focus on how our interpretations diverge.

Now I posit that there are only TWO things you and I must determine in order.

First, the methodology Christ through the Holy Spirit would most likely use to design this ‘‘Special Group’’. (Such methodology I shall term His ’‘Criteria’’);

and, then after we agree on this,

Second, which Special Group in the world today best fits those Criteria.
