No this is not what you think

Does anyone have a *Strong’s Concordance * handy who can tell me what Greek word is used for “profitable” in 2 Tim. 3:16 and also what that word means/entails in Greek?

All scripture is inspired by God and** profitable **for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness

That’s it. No baiting. I am just curious. I make no promises though where others may take this thread from here.

By the way, biblos.com has links to Strongs for each verse, which is what I just used, although I thought about buying the real thing yesterday.

I just saw the second bit, what it entails. Strongs says “useful” or “profitable”.

Liddell and Scott, the pre-eminent Greek-English dictionary lists ωφελεια (the dictionary form) and has quite a long listing for it - so the nuances are complex, but generally speaking it is in regard to profit, and usefulness.
