Oo-oo, I think I got it!

The 20 ‘truths’ of mormonism are:
  1. Whatever we say it is
  2. regardless of what we said or taught before
  3. but understood in light of recent ‘fiine tuning’ of our ‘scriptures’
  4. and what REALLY constitutes a Revelation from one of our Prophets
  5. who are always taken out of context
  6. by Apostates and Gentiles who don’t have the burning in the bosom
  7. even when the transcript of said ‘Revelation’ is readily available to prove otherwise
  8. and are shown biblical verses to the contrary;
  9. all of us were ‘former’ Catholics
  10. and are on a direct line to the Holy Spirit
  11. who tells us that as long as we believe in our hearts what we want to believe
  12. no man or woman can presume to question LDS supremacy
  13. in fulfilling the Gospel of Jesus Christ
  14. but we sure like to hang around Catholic places, like the Vatican and the Missions in California
  15. with our Institutes of Religion (of course, there is only ONE religion and it is ours)
  16. and talk about how similar Catholics and mormons are in belief and doctrine
  17. while ignoring every bit of evidence to the contrary
  18. and claiming ad hominem attacks
  19. or personal vendettas against us for our beliefs
  20. and never answering direct questions about our ‘theology.’
I hope this clarifies Zerinus’ methodology!

I think that is an accurate representation of this cult. I really don’t have a problem with the people (who generally have strong families ) I just think that it’s completely wrong that the lds continues to lie to people as they have from the start of their cult.

Holden:

So true. So many great neighbors and friends. In my personal experience, about half of those I engaged with concerning Christianity and mormonism have left the cult.

Others, and interestingly enough they initiated ‘discussion,’ have cut off continued contact (at work and socially) when I asked them to give some printed questions to their ‘bishop’ for clarification.

Oh well, one soul and the angelic choirs are singing!

Magnificent! I think you’ve got it down perfectly!

This post really gave me a ‘burning in the bosom’, but it might just be the buffalo wings I had earlier… 😛

I love the squirming of our mormon trolls when asked direct questions about what they believe. I hope and pray that the scales are starting to itch and drop off their eyes!

It just amazes how they never can address direct queries.

One of the sad things about being a troll. Maybe someday they will grow up and decide that being a troll really isn’t that much fun and it’s a waste of time.

And of course, if we go back in time to the ‘Dark Ages’ , the god-loving catholics at that time, would know exactly what to do with that ‘cult’, right? And its members…

Of course, what is amazing is that if I ask my catholic relatives just what the catholic church believes, I don’t think that I would get much of an answer. And this would go for catholics in general. In reality, how much does anyone know about the faith in which they believe? Not much.

Maybe so, but that ‘burning in the bosom’ is not such a bad feeling. Now let me explain…when I enter the catholic church where I attend Mass I often sense and have a nice peaceful feeling inside me and a good feeling that god is there.

Or should I equate that to the burritos and tacos that I might have ate during the week? 😊

because we leave most of those eyebrow-burning things to our scholars/leaders, faith matters much

I have a bunch of good things to say about Mormons:

They have a conservative sexual ethic. Look at current abortion data in Utah. They have strong local communities. Many are naively deceived. They are opposed to drug and alcohol abuse. They place a strong value on education. Family is important.

Catholics are not perfect people, either. We are often guilty of letting the hierarchy think for us. We can be guilty of judgmental attitudes, racism, covering up of the sins of others, alcohol abuse, intolerance of the beliefs of others, fear of our own intellectual abilities.

Of course, I have many more bad things to say about Mormons. At present, their primary means of defense is accusing others of what they themselves are guilty. Not really much left. Evidently, their church as a whole is just not mature enough to take a look at itself. Or perhaps it is because of a sandy foundation. (As in treasure-digging 😃 LOL. I just couldn’t resist that one!)

mormons and mormonism emphasize feelings over faith and reason. In a way, mormonism coopts your feelings for you. Do you have strong feelings that it’s all a sham and you’ve been duped? mormonism tells you that feeling means that something is wrong with you and you need to do whatever you have to do in order for that feeling to go away.

Have a good feeling when you walk into a church? mormonism tells you that is because truth is found there, just not the whole truth.

So no, it’s not your tacos, it’s you, relying too much on emotion, and the mormon interpretation of your emotions for you.

I know a man who got very involved in very different belief systems, just to see if he got the mormon burning bosom. Every single time he did. And he checked out some way out there belief systems, ufos, out of body experiences, the like.

People who join cults, Jonestown, Heavens Gate, Branch Davidian…these people were tied tightly to these cults. Emotionally you can be certain they believed in them. So what keeps most people from joining up with groups like this? REASON.

I don’t doubt that mormons use reason. However, the reasoning I see mormons use is flawed. They don’t look at the raw facts. They don’t look at all of the facts. All the mormon apologetics I see leave out facts, and twists what facts there are in order to fit a mormon POV.

Or, with certain individuals, they have looked at the facts but they want mormonism to be true so much, that they become relativist.

So all that to say. A peaceful feeling is good. But it is emotion. Emotions are not bad. Love is an emotion that is required for good mental health. But emotions change. A mature person uses emotions with reason. A teenager feels those first pangs of love, and their world is nothing but that. All reason flies out the window. A mormon feels good about something they read, and their world is nothing but that. All reason flies out the window.

This is exactly what mormon missionaries encourage their prospects for conversion to do. Rely completely on emotion. No wonder they send emotionally immature boys to do the job.

it might have something to do with you believing in the false religion of mormonism and acting as a missionary for the mormon religion. I really don’t understand your persistent references to what an active catholic you are when you have born your testimony of the BoM here and continue to try and lead folks to mormonism. you really need to look at yourself and decide what you believe. the actions that you describe are wrong according to the doctrines of both religions.

Well now, what a pleasant surprise. This post was quite nicely written, mixed with a little honesty. I can agree with you in what you just wrote. I know that some catholics wish that catholics could have the same moral standard as many mormons do. And I also know that there are mentions every so often about modest dressing on EWTN. I am sure the those who mention modesty can see the benefits of modest dressing that the mormons preach.

And we need to remember that some mormons are also guilty of just what you wrote about some catholic behavior. 🙂

I don’t think that you understand me. I am not here to preach mormonism. But I do try to balance the negative picture that many catholics have of mormonism. That’s all. I have been truthful. I cannot deny the book of mormon because of what I experienced when I prayed about it many years ago.

But that doesn’t mean much. I am much more involved in the catholic faith. But yes, I do have ties to mormonism too. I am a much better person now that I have been in the catholic church again. But that doesn’t mean that I am going to trash mormonism. I have no reason to do so. I may have my difficulties practicing the mormon faith but I would still defend it.

My only goal at this moment is to feel god again and the priests and nuns are being a great help in this. And that is not such a bad thing either.

Don’t forget this part of my post:

Don’t forget this part of my post:
I am accusing nobody except those few antimormon, former mormon, catholics who seem to have forgotten just what it means to be a christian.

However, Jerusha, you are okay in my book. 👍
