For all of you who listened to the Orientale Lumen XV Conference conference “Rome and the Communion of Churches: Bishop, Patriarch, or Pope?” Plenary sessions for free on Ancient Faith Radio please consider an appropriate donation to Orientale Lumen Foundation for those. At the time of the 2011 Conference I sent Orientale Lumen Foundation $50 because that was the amount they originally asked for when they were planning to offer live web coverage for the first time to those who couldn’t get to the conference.

I received a mailing from the Orientale Lumen Foundation today. If you’ve been involved at all with Orientale Lumen Conferences you’ll know that Jack Figel Orientale Lumen Foundation founder has personally covered the large deficits for these conferences for years. This cannot continue and the letter is saying 2011 may have been the last conference if the current loss cannot be covered (and ideally even get some seed money for the next conference). I will be making another contribution.

They are looking to recoup at least $4000 still owed for this conference mostly the cost of travel for the speakers. A donation of $100 or more they will give you a free CD or DVD of Met. Kallistos, or Fr. Taft.

The letter is signed by Met. Jonah “Orthodox C0-Patron”, Bishop John Michael "Romanian Catholic Church Catholic Co-Patron, and Marlene McCracken “OL Conference Participant”.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Conferences go to the OLTV website and see videos of past Conferences, including both Plenary sessions and Liturgies, in addition to the recent sessions podcast on Ancient Faith Radio.

Jack has also appeared a number of times on Fr. Tom Loya’s Light of the East radio talking about the Conferences, which Fr. Loya has been a part of, including the #341 April 5, 2011 podcast and #306 August 3, 2010 podcast.

OL XVI Conference June 18-21 in D.C. if funding is secured to cover it.

My experience at the OL 2008 Conference was life changing for me. The fact we have ongoing access to all the plenary sessions from 2011 has been really a huge gift. I encourage you to consider contributing to this important ecumenical work.

NO!!!

I hope they can find a way to fund the conference. Peroggy Suppers perhaps 😃 (hey, it has kept our parishes afloat)
