I agree with the poll, and attempted to BACK UP my opinion with what I observe in my parish and with people I converse with.

You were the one stating people on CAF sure seemed to be concerned with what people do in the “privacy of thier bedroom”

I provided stats and polls that show something around 70% of American Catholics want the Church to reverse its teaching on contraception. Considering something like only 30% of American’s attend church every weekend and a similar number believe in True Presence this is not surprising.

As for the keep out of the bedroom folks, it would be easier to stay out if we were not constantly bombarded day in and day out with images and text in the media regarding:

-how to improve our sex lives
-men and women dressed (or undressed) to appeal to our sexual emotions in order to get us to buy products
-explicit conversations about people’s sex lives who decide not to keep their sex lives to themselves
-commercials on the next great sex item
-a culture of divorce that stretches out and touches everyone alive in some way either directly in their family, through their extended family, or friends.
-jokes about masturbation, use of women, contraceptives that we get to hear that put these things in the light that everyone does it and they are ok.

The problem is America is just one big bedroom that we are all in whether we want to be or not.

-discussions and descriptions of deviant sexual practices that we are told we’ve bigoted and hateful if we don’t approve of.

haha CAF is very voluntary though. If that kind of vitriol was common people would leave. I made a point of saying that kind of talk was wrong earlier. Unfortunately we don’t get a choice on whether or not we want to hear about this junk at school, when out shopping, on tv, on the internet, and at work a lot of times. There is a bill being debated right now in Congress that would require school sex ed programs in junior highs to discuss specific homosexual sex acts with how to’s along with heterosexual sex acts in their programs. You know as well as I do that kids cannot be protected from this stuff anymore because its just too viral and too common. The idea of being able to shelter kids is a joke. If we cannot effectively stay away from it and its effect, you better bet people are going to come out with guns blazing to fight against it.

Oh brother. Didn’t I say in that post that I was not speaking as to the suitability of having such a group perform in a church? Yes, it is unsuitable to have a secular group perform in a church. But that has NOTHING to do with contraception. That little tidbit was completely irrelevant to the discussion.

And NO, secular rock bands are NOT intrinsically evil. “Secular rock band” is a very generic term. There are secular rock bands who don’t write Satanic songs and have perfectly clean lyrics. Of course, there are also some bands that claim to be Satanic (for what it’s worth, I’ve never heard that about Motley Crue, but I’m not much for hair metal, so I don’t know much about them). But no, the term “secular rock band” =/= “intrinsically evil.”

If you need me to spell it out for you, then you did miss my point:

Abortion is murder. It involves another innocent human being, and in the US people somehow have the “right” to kill that human being. We have a duty to God and to humanity to protect innocent lives. It SHOULD infuriate us that children are being slaughtered. We SHOULD speak out against it in justified anger and protest.

You can’t compare a married couple’s choice of birth control to abortion - not even the Church puts the 2 at the same level.

Unlike murder, the number of children a couple has and how they went about getting that number, is between themselves and God. Why people here are so obsessed over something that is extremely private and absolutely none of their business…?? That’s the mystery.

But that wasn’t your argument. Your argument was why people care what others do in the privacy of their bedrooms, not why argue about less “serious” sins. Both abortion and contraception are typically done in privacy.

Besides, most topics about contraception are started by people who question NFP, or don’t agree with the prohibition on contraception.

We are called in charity to care about all sin, not just public ones anyway. No sin si ever just between an individual and God. That’s not even Catholioc teaching.

Your way top insecure about the topic of number of children. Don’t recall this topic in particular mentioning too few children. I do recall being told that 12 is too many, since no one needs to have 12.

And don’t be so dramatic. Spew hatred? Come on. You’ve made your fgeelings about not liking the contraception rules - no need to embellish a topic with things that aren’t there.
