Twenty One years ago today I came to around 5am, angry that I had not woken up dead. I crawled into a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous.

If I do not drink today, tomorrow I will be celebrating 21 years of continuous sobriety. I will be doing so by being the Saturday night speaker at a Sobriety Round Up. I will then return home where I will be the Lector for one of the many Masses held during the Lord’s Day at my parish.

You don’t get ‘here’ from ‘there’ without God.

Wonderful, LSK!! Thank you for sharing your life with us here. It helps to know someone who has been from ‘there’ to ‘here’ and is still going strong, with the help of the Lord.

Congratulations! By the grace of God and the program of AA, I am recovering a day at a time as well. Could not be more grateful. All the best to you!

I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT!

I celebrated 21 years of continuous sobriety.

I have not taken a drink, an illegal drug or a legal drug illegally since May 4, 1992.

I got to spend the day up in Yuba City California, speaking for an AA Roundup. I always share from the podium that AA gave me back my Faith, my God and my Church. Afterwards, the number of Catholics that come up to me and say, “Thank you for not identifying as a recovering Catholic” makes me laugh out loud. I was also asked to be someone confirmations sponsor - now that was a first!

Anyway, thanks to all the prayers of good solid people I am sober today. And I am a member of the Order of Preachers - Third Order!

You cannot get ‘here’ from ‘there’ without a Power greater than yourself…that is for SURE!👍
