Um, no one “falls into mortal sin.” Mortal sin requires that you know what you are doing. It isn’t misfortune, it is a choice.

Sorry, but I hate when I read something like that. As though mortal sin is just something that happens to us, rather than something that we actively participate in.

This article is not for the scrupulous for sure. Tying the efficacy of grace to the disposition of one’s soul…not sure that’s a good pastoral tactic.
He could have said it all with #1: Trust.

Sorry, but I hate when I read something like that. As though mortal sin is just something that happens to us, rather than something that we actively participate in.
It is true that mortal sin is not something one can do “by accident”.

However, I disagree that a poor choice cannot also be an unfortunate (or misfortunate) one. “misfortune” is not the same thing as “blind bad luck that has come out of nowhere”.
