Because the world is changing in spite of the Catholic Church’s position on this issue. A lot of unnecessary suffering related to this issue will end.
I can understand why you would think this is true, but it is not. Homosexual sex is sinful and that sin, as does all sin, results in a seperation from God. There can be no lasting peace or happiness apart from God.

I feel nothing but compassion and pity for people who suffer from this condition - it must be very difficult. But the Bible tells us that God’s grace is sufficent, so overcoming the challenges of being a homosexual must be possible - with God’s help.

I It is sad that there is so much of this going on in Catholic and Protestant churches alike. I think the best thing that can be done is to pray and pray that it will be better soon.

:gopray:
Several posts have mentioned this as a “Catholic and Protestant” problem. That is simply not true. A short time Googling abuse of children/youths by either Jewish or Orthodox clergymen will expand your knowledge on this. I did this in 2002 at the height of the Long Lent, and was interested to see that there were reams of info on their malfeasance.

The difference was, and to some extent still is, that the major target of the media is the Catholic Church. I believe the New York Times devoted a front page article a day, for 41 days, to the scandals… At the very same time, articles covering Protestant abusers were being buried in many papers in back sections and back pages. In one instance a report I heard on ABC news concerning a prominent Jewish cantor was omitted from the NYT for at least a week. The New York Post (I think that’s the name of that other paper), ran it immediately! Today, however, fundamentalists may well find themselves in a situation somewhat similar to Catholics if they become a strong enough political force.

Nevertheless, ALWAYS it is the Church that must be overthrown if members of the media and entertainment industry are to establish a truly secular state devoid of morality.

Sad, 😦

That’s ridiculous. Why should they have to be chaste? Why don’t you be chaste? Why don’t you ask heterosexual Catholics to be chaste?
Are you serious? On what planet have you been living?

This illustrates for me the imprudence of putting a man or a woman with this type of temptation in any position of respectability. Eventually, the fall always comes, and if the individual in question has been relegated to the sidelines, he won’t take the Church with him. It is scandals like these that make that much more important the mission to screen these people out.

It’s not the sexual act that bothers me as much as the hypocrisy. ANother vocal opponent of homosexual relations is apparently engaging in homosexual relations.
Same here. Every time I hear a person, especially a male, going on and on about homosexuality I wonder why he’s so obsessed with that sin. We’re talking 10 percent of the population and most in the Gay community do not have children (males, that is). It seems that Divorce would be the big issue to the average person because that is what is hurting the children.

Actually, there are probably more heterosexuals that sin simply because their numbers are greater. So, to put a man who finds women attractive into a job where he is revered and fawned over by women could be just as tempting.

Since there is no information in your profile, I shall assume that you are quite young, that you have had no exposure to Catholic teaching on human sexuality, and that you think the word “chastity” means “no sex.”

All Catholics (people) are called to be chaste, throughout their lives according to their condition of life. It ain’t always easy, but

Sexual intercourse is permitted only in marriage. Marriage is for life, between one man and one woman, and open to life. Chastity in marriage is to consummate the marital act frequently and with pleasure.

Chastity in the single or celibate state requires abstinence from sexual relations.

Actually we are talking less than 3% of the population-less than 1% for females. The 10% figure is myth orignally propogated by Alfred Kinsey who based it on the sexual behavior of incarcerated males.

The idea that males who criticize homosexual behavior have homosexual tendecies is also a myth used to try and shut down the debate.

I fail to see what divorce has to do with topic at hand.

Well we can shut down all the Church’s if only those without sin are allowed to condemn sin.

Actually, a passing familiarity with the John Jay report and other studies commissioned by NARTH will reveal that those with the temptation to homosexual activity have a higher incidence of sexual misconduct than the general public. These individuals are sick and there is no sane method of dealing with them that does not acknowledge this fact first.
