Hi I’m Zap (Simon)

The name Zap was kind of ‘given’ to me through a series of coincidences that I won’t go into at length, other than to say that during the period in which those coincidences took place in which I adopted that name, I greatly felt the presence of God. I don’t use Zap in my day to day exchanges with other people, or introduce myself by that name to anyone I meet, but use it as a pen name in the writing I do. (Writer, poet, musician)

I saw a thread on this that was closed and just wanted to add my own testimony.

In my 33rd year, I was living in apt 3, at 7 Street address and went through over a year of intense overt spiritual attacks. I was having out of body experiences every night, and under assault by ‘demonic’ entities. Every time I would reintegrate with my body the clock would read exactly 3:33 am… for a year!!!

What this exactly means I cannot say, but I do believe that God has kept me through some very difficult and frightening experiences that have shattered my disbelief and left me with a very strong faith after passing through this fire. The change was not immediate but took some time to take root, but I am now converting to Catholicism because it is where I feel I have been led.

If you are suffering from this kind of attack, read all you can about the Armor of God and implement it asap. Repent and turn; they will flee.

God Bless

Thank you for the welcome! I have felt nothing but welcomed by the people I have met within the church I am working at / attending and have deeply felt Jesus’ presence when in group prayer. I always lacked fellowship, and didn’t think it was necessary, but now recognize the need, and not only the need but the beauty of it.

Well as I’m not overly familiar with church life in any denomination, I find the fellowship within the Catholic church I attend to be quite strong. (I was raised protestant, but attended church as a child with my parents who did it out of a feeling of obligation and not out any great level of belief) The church I attend is running the Alpha program now, which I am taking part in which has been a fantastic experience in which there are some very meaningful conversations about faith. I still haven’t taken part in communion at Mass out of respect for tradition because I have not gone through the RCIA yet. I work at the church maintaining the grounds, a humble job I took after the technology based work I was doing just seemed to feel like a dead end. I have heard others say this though, that the catholic church lacks fellowship - I just haven’t had that experience myself because though I have been a believer for some time, I never joined a church so perhaps my experience is flush with novelty too.

I agree with you - these things become simply coincidences that the Holy Spirit uses to draw our attention to other matters that are really what it wants us to see. I don’t have a chosen one complex or anything, or feel like I am any different from anyone else on a spiritual level; salvation ends up being the same experience for everyone in the end no matter what their earthly path exposes them to. The coincidences can be very extreme though and become strong indelible memories that serve to remind us why we have faith when doubt comes by for a poke now and then.

I really don’t know about that but I guess of minor significance is that it was the age that Jesus was crucified. I’ve actually read about the phenomena that happened to me in that year and I’m not alone at all there’s a lot of people that this has happened to.

I think you need a CPAP machine for sleeping and it will take care of your issues. I had similar experiences and the CPAP took care of it right away. The mind does weird things when it is being deprived of oxygen.

I actually asked God to make it stop and employed the armor of God which
worked.

Using material world remedies could reduce aspects of a spiritual attack’s
effectiveness, but in mistaking a spiritual attack for a medical problem
and treating it accordingly and with some noticeable success, one will have
relegated the entire experience to the physical domain and be only treating
symptoms and not ever address the true spiritual cause.

But if you break your leg you wouldn’t look at it and ask God to heal it. You would get medical attention and ask God to provide a speedy recovery. It is no different with sleep apnea. You really should see a doctor.

Well I think you’re trying to be kind, but I don’t have sleep apnea. Many problems we’re faced with aren’t strictly spiritual or strictly physical but are a combination of both worlds. If we are under spiritual attack, getting a bandaid isn’t going to do much, and if we cut ourselves bursting into prayer is unlikely to instantly heal a cut.

Are you unable to allow for the possibility of overt spiritual attack, or do you insist that all symptoms of this kind (out of bodies, visual confirmation of negative spirits) are due only to natural causes, completely explainable within the material realm?

Hi Zap!

Cute nickname, and a very endearing nickname for a kid! I just wanted to welcome you to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome, even if it attempted to be a little deprecating with the kid thing. I guess I am a kid in some ways even though I’m 50 now. We don’t choose our nicknames, they choose us.

ZAP: (Definition)
  1. A sudden event or effect that makes a dramatic impact.
  2. What you get when you stick your fingers into a light socket.
  3. A revelation.

I don’t think we believe in out of body experiences, but we do believe in demonic attacks and deceptions that may make it appear as though you’ve been through an out of body experience.
The soul and the body are inextricably linked, it is kinda sorta like we are spirits made material.

But welcome and God bless!

3am, I believe (correct me if I am wrong) is the deliberate inversion of the Passion which occurred at 3 in the afternoon. I have also been under spiritual attack, so I understand very well…just keep doing what you’re doing, follow your path into the true church.

There’s actually quite frequent mention in the Bible of ‘being in the spirit’ - Padre Pio could bi-locate - I won’t argue with you over it though; it is a subjective experience that is impossible to prove but if you look at the weight of evidence in the form of testimonials then you’d have to agree that there are many people who experience this. I had a near death experience too when I was 12.

I have read some private revelations that says God’s number is 333 .

well for me the time was always 3:33 am - and this went on for a year - there’s only conjecture about what it truly means - I decided to take the repeated numbers as a sign at the time - this was at a time when I was ‘turning to God’ after having doubted most of my life up until that year - not all of the experiences I had were bad - there was also a group of angels and what I think might have been a trip to heaven.

Thanks Midnight - when you’re under attack and you reach out (in my case I was told to go down the street by a protestant minister where ‘they served my kind’) you will 90% of the time be faced with disbelief and even ridicule, even from Christian fellowship. I don’t think the attacks ever really stop, but there are periods when they are much more noticeable, and in a time of truly turning to God one can almost count on resistance. During other periods I went with as little as 2 hours of sleep a night for as long as 6 months. Very draining, but the result is a faith that knows little doubt. (but is still subject to error… 🙂 )

The best defense against the demonic Zap are the sacraments. If you are not Catholic, I suggest you consider becoming one! Barring that, you could still avail yourself of sacramentals such as holy water, blessed salt. You do not have to be Catholic either to pray the rosary, consider that.

Prayer is available to all as well. You may know about all of these things, but it never hurts to hear about them again. God delights in turning the tables back on the adversary. Take care!

PS: With God’s help, and the sufferers footwork, these things can easily be addressed, but as the Exorcists often point out, we also have to continue work long after the attacks end, lest they return in earnest!
