Hi,

I’ve researched this for years and have never received an answer.
I know that, along with 1 and 2 Maccabees, 3 and 4 Maccabees were also listed in the Septuagint. If our canon of Scripture follows that of the Septuagint, as is often said, how come they (3 and 4 Macc.) aren’t in our Bibles? The same goes for The Prayer of Manasseh.
Also, what is the biblical support for the Assumption of Mary?

Catholics aren’t sola scriptura Christians. We don’t hold to the scriptures as our sole authority.

No, there is no explicit mention of Mary’s assumption in the Bible, although when you examine the arguments, you’ll see that it is indeed historical.
 
Arise, O Lord, and go to thy resting place, thou and the ark of thy might (Ps. 132:8).

Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple (Rv. 11:19).
And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun (Rv. 12:1).
 
Why is it that when a Catholic asks what the biblical support is for a certain Catholic dogma, it is always assumed that he/she believes Catholics to be identical with Protestants? I simply requested the biblical support for the doctrine. This doesn’t mean that i am ignorant of Sacred Tradition or of the Church’s Magisterium. I’ve noticed that this is the stance of many Catholics toward any of the Church’s sons who explicitly shows devotion to the Bible. With all due respect, in my opinion, this needs to change.

To be honest with you, if you start with Mary, as the New Eve and get your hands around it, all the other Doctrines of Mary just fall into place.
