The three men, once they become priests, are expected to serve in the new ordinariate in the Catholic Church which is set up for former Anglicans. As bishops in the Church of England, the three men held “flying” positions, serving parishes which objected to female priests.

A Catholic bishop is quoted that up to 50 Anglican clergy could convert before Easter.

The five “expected” for 1 Jan 2011 were only “expected” by bloggers and news media types who apparently did not listen to the announcement from the Catholic Bishops in the UK who laid out a very precise timeline with how many to be received this date, how many that date.

The 3 Active CoE Bishops were the only ones expected to be received on 1 Jan. 2011. That 3 Anglican Nuns were also received was, to me, a pleasant surprise.

After these three bishops are ordained 15 Jan 2011 as Catholic Priest, they will begin setting up the Ordianariate in England. Two retired CoE Bishops, with the TTAC Bishop, Bishop Mercer, will be received along with approximately 50 priests and their parishes Easter. They will be ordained deacons and by the Summer 2011 Ordained priests.

As for the States, Canada and Australia, still waiting.

I noticed that, together with the three bishops, two of their wives were received into the Church. Was one unmarried, or did one wife remain a non-Catholic? I note that some dioceses (San Diego for example) won’t admit a Deacon candidate whose wife is not a Catholic. However, I’m sure that there are no similar rules for bishops!
