What is the significance of the three days in the tomb?

Jesus died and took the sins of the world upon Him and rose again in three days. In other words the temple of Jerusalem with all the sins of the temple upon Him, and he died as the one time sacrifice for the removal of sins so there wouldn’t be anymore animal sacrifices and then He rebuilt the Temple 3 days later. In other words the Church was built and we are now the temple of the Holy Spirit. Jesus died for the Whole world so that our sins would be forgiven.
John 2:19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”
Mark 14:57-59 Some stood up and gave false testimony against him, saying, 58 “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands.’” 59 But even on this point their testimony did not agree.
There’s also significance that Jesus preached to the souls in prison those three days releasing them from the bondage of sins. That’s a reference to purgatory.

Three days in the tomb was as I understand it is due to the belief that in Jewish custom of the times was that a person was considered dead after three days. If a person was so to speak to come out of an tomb before three days was up then he would be thought still alive. By Jesus being buried in the tomb for three days showed that He rose from the dead, which as Christains believe as if Christ had not risen from the dead after three days our belief in Him as Son of God would had been in vain

Well said. That’s also why Lazarus was only raised from the dead after he was definetly confirmed as deceased (4 days after his death).

I Think Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead was to show that as The Son of God He could bring back to life that which was dead. Also I think it was a prelude to His own self that He would raise Himself from the dead and that I think somehow at first the Apostles missed it,till after wards when Christ rose from the dead. I think the Gospel writers used this to show that Jesus is the Son of God. Christ proved He is the Son of God first by raising Lazarus from the dead and so by His on raiaing from the dead. The Apostles must have been awed by this raising of Lazarus, and even more so when they saw Christ rose from the dead and spoke and ate with the Apostles. think about it, if someone was or is able to bring someone back alive after three or four days being dead it would be very awsom as well as the thought that person must be God to bring another to life after someone was dead several days This on top of all that we fine in the Gospels that we might believe in Christ as the Son of God and Son of Man

For David saith concerning him; *I foresaw the Lord always before my face: because he is at my right hand, that I may not be moved: For this my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover, my flesh also shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, nor suffer thy holy one to see corruption.

Therefore my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover, my flesh also shall rest in hope. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life, thou shalt fill me with joy with thy countenance: at thy right hand are delights even to the end.
