I was hoping you all could pray for three of my older cousins. The three are brothers, all in their early 30s. None of them currently live in my city (two of them do not even currently live in my continent), but we grew up together and are very close. Not all of this following information may be completely correct since I live far away from them, and I come from a family that discourages any semblance of challenging the faith or lack thereof of a particular person.
One of them said years ago that even though he did not practice his Catholic faith, he believed all her teachings. The latter part apparently is not completely true, because he supports same-sex “marriage” and has had a boyfriend in the past. He recently began living in a Buddhist monastery to work on his martial arts.
The next one started practicing Judaism in college. He sometimes goes to Mass when he’s in town visiting the family, especially if he is visiting town to attend the marriage or funeral of a family member, but the last two times I was at Mass with him he just sat in the pew and did not participate. He, his parents, and my family unit were recently on vacation together and we all had a somewhat shallow but overall positive conversation about the Mass and the saints, and I was surprised to hear him say something like “it doesn’t say anywhere that Mass attendance is mandatory.” I feel like my answer was not super clear, but I think it was correct .(I mentioned the three-legged stool of the Church )
The oldest of the three brothers and his wife are serious about their faith and go to Mass every Sunday. The one thing that worries me is that they’ve been married for four years and still do not have any children. While this fact does not automatically mean they are not practicing NFP they are not getting any younger and my cousin has said he’s not ready for children and he’s not sure if he ever will be. I hope that they are not receiving Communion in the state of mortal sin.
God bless you all, and thank you all for your time.
