Some Jews wanted to test Muhammad to see if he is a prophet so they asked him three questions about the story of the people of the caves; about the great traveller who travelled to the edges of the earth and about the soul.

So the Maccans asked Muhammad these 3 questions and he replied that he would give them the answer tomorrow.

But Muhammad had no answer the next day nor the next nor the next and people started to laugh at him because the “revelation” had not come.

After 15 days Muhammad finally answered the three questions.

My question is, why didn’t Allah answer him on the spot to prove that he is a prophet instead of proving to these people that he is not, especially that he said he will get the answer the next day?

Second, how can answering these questions after 15 days prove he is a prophet rather than a man who gathered info specially that what he answered about the first 2 questions was already known before islam, and he did not answer the third question because saying that the soul is from God is not an answer as Jews already know this so his answer in plain language is “i don’t have an answer” .

I found one answer why Allah did not reveal anything, and that is because Muhammad did not say “inshallah” (i.e God willing i will answer you tomorrow) ! now no offence, but this is a very convenient cover-up for not knowing the answers since Allah could have saved the face of Muhammad and reprimanded him later as happened previously, like when he was concealing his feelings for a married woman so Allah reprimanded him after he concealed his desire for her. So we see Allah reprimanding muhammad for concealing his desire for a married woman after he concealed it, which isn’t as important as proving to those doubters that he is a prophet yet people laughed at Muhammad because Allah was upset that he did not say “inshallah”?

Reading 1 Kings 18 might give you some insight into this “problem”. 👍

Maybe Mohammed was trying to force Allah to speak? But Allah wanted to wait until he was laughed at so he could give the revelations, which by then would be impossibly by the questioners? That’s my hypothesis.

can you please explain the bold part?

as to the questions, they were:

1-story of the people of the caves (sleepers of the cave)
2-about the great traveller who travelled to the edges of the earth (Alexander the great)
3-and about the soul.

…Allah was upset that he did not say “inshallah”?
Allah taught him a good thing . We must always say InshaAllah
(if it is will of God ) about doing something in future.

If Muhammed (p) was a false Prophet , he could invented some answers to tell the Jews rather than telling them " I don’t know’ . He waited till the revelation came to him . What’s the problem with that ?

Don’t you see it as a very clever cover up? after all, Allah revealed to Muhammad many things and then reprimanded him. Besides, there are many things said by Muhammad without saying “inshaAllah” yet you believe they happened, for example:

Surely, Constantinople (Istanbul) will be conquered (by my community); how blessed the commander who will conquer it, and how blessed his army."

Where is InshaAllah?

'Umar bin al-Khattab said, ‘I went to the Prophet and said, “Aren’t you truly the messenger of Allah?” The Prophet said, “Yes, indeed.” I said, “Isn’t our cause just and the cause of the enemy unjust?” He said, “Yes.” I said, “Then why should we be humble in our religion?” He said, “I am Allah’s messenger and I do not disobey Him, and He will make me victorious”’ (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 50, Number 891)

where is Inshallah?

Do u challenge God why He decided to allow people to kill His son ? He could have forgiven the sins of human being without allowing murder of His only dear son .

Prophet was blessed with some knowledge of unseen/future ( it was a blessing of God to him). When he already knew what God taught him ,may be in that case he did not use InshaAllah . When he decided to do something by his own choices , he must have uttered InshaAllah .

And God knows Best.

Do u challenge God why He decided to allow people to kill His son ? He could have forgiven the sins of human being without allowing murder of His only dear son . no am not challenging God, am questioning the logic behind believing that this incident is a proof for Muhammad’s prophethood. In other words, we have people asking a man 3 questions to see if he is truthful, the man does not have an answer and says he will answer the next day, but it takes him 15 days, so he claims that he did not get an answer because he did not say inshaalah but a prophet is already supposed to know that nothing happens without the will of God and we end up with a man answering after having a long time of searching/asking about answers still with one answer missing, which proves the test failed. Got it now?
Prophet was blessed with some knowledge of unseen/future ( it was a blessing of God to him).

Certainly!

It would be more credible for Allah to give a message later on then earlier, for than, when Mohammed is considered a fool and a false prophet, Allah could “prove” he is god by speaking through the prophet - when everyone thought it was impossible. It is similar logic to Jesus rising on the third day, though without the theological importance: He was dead for three days, and then, He rose from the dead, when everyone thought it was impossible for Him to come back.

Then the Jews would have known that his answers were false.
