Questioning and observing the teachings of the Catholic church and discussing how its’ faithful respond to that is far from trashing it. Speaking clearly on the facts of happening in the RC is also far from trashing it although at times it may seem as such and cannot be helped.I dont like you trashing my religion so we are even
Have questions about the Catholic Church?Questioning and observing the teachings of the Catholic church and discussing how its’ faithful respond to that is far from trashing it. Speaking clearly on the facts of happening in the RC is also far from trashing it although at times it may seem as such and cannot be helped.
Would you be willing to explain what you think “Co-redemptrix” means and what it would entail?
- The belief that Mary is a co-redemptrix with Christ.
He is ignorant. He made an outrages claim that the Catholic Church “unwillingness of the RC to acknowledge that God is wholly in other churches besides the RC”
Don’t tell me if his information is accurate. The Catholic Church recognizes the sacraments of the E.Orthodox Churches, and recognizes the baptism of the Protestant Churches and consider them as separated brothers and sisters in Church.
His idea is that the CC doesn’t… He doesn’t know any better so he is ignorant. Ignorant means lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned.
He is unlearned and therefore ignorant.
Ok, I thought that was the teaching of the church…now.Matthew 16:18, Jesus established a Church Upon Peter, in John 20:23, Jesus breathed on the Apostles, and said, As the Father has send me, so I send you." How did the Father send Jesus? He send Jesus with Authority, likewise, Jesus, send the Apostles authority over men to bind and lose and forgive sins. This was handed down to their sucessors the bishops.
The Magisterium is founded in Scripture, the Council of Jerusalem is the first one. The Magisterium is the authority of the bishops in union with the Pope. Just like the first Council, the Apostles resolve the issue of circumcision and with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, they decided that Gentile don’t have to be circumcised and that they have to abstain from meats offer to idols.
This is the belief but not mandatory. No Pope has proclaimed it to be infallible. Even though, many Catholics believe in it. Co-Redemptrix does not make Mary equal to the Jesus. It only state that she parttake in the Salvation History but accepting the Father’s will to bring forth the Word of God into flesh by her FIAT.
Wow what igorant remark. Have you not read what the Catechism of the Catholic Church states regarding those Christians not in commonion with Rome?
Let this enlighten your ignorant mind.
817 In fact, "in this one and only Church of God from its very beginnings there arose certain rifts, which the Apostle strongly censures as damnable. But in subsequent centuries much more serious dissensions appeared and large communities became separated from full communion with the Catholic Church - for which, often enough, men of both sides were to blame."269 The ruptures that wound the unity of Christ’s Body - here we must distinguish heresy, apostasy, and schism270 - do not occur without human sin:
Where there are sins, there are also divisions, schisms, heresies, and disputes. Where there is virtue, however, there also are harmony and unity, from which arise the one heart and one soul of all believers.271
818 "However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers . . . . All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church."272
820 "Christ bestowed unity on his Church from the beginning. This unity, we believe, subsists in the Catholic Church as something she can never lose, and we hope that it will continue to increase until the end of time."277 Christ always gives his Church the gift of unity, but the Church must always pray and work to maintain, reinforce, and perfect the unity that Christ wills for her. This is why Jesus himself prayed at the hour of his Passion, and does not cease praying to his Father, for the unity of his disciples: "That they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be one in us, . . . so that the world may know that you have sent me."278 The desire to recover the unity of all Christians is a gift of Christ and a call of the Holy Spirit.279
Your statement of assumptions is completely igorant of Church teachings.

- I don’t believe anything without proof.
- I find many things in the bible immoral Eg: Pro slavery, Kill any gays, Kill anyone who works on the sabbath, kill anyone who does not believe in the religion and I don’t like how the bible is anti-woman.
- I’m gay have had homosexual sex, and I love my boyfriend with all my heart
Sometimes we show our love in a way and a fashion that is different from what we would have expected, or have been told.

Well, ronnok20, we wouldn’t know it by what you write. I think you make a wise decision in not “getting into a war of wits with (me) over knowledge of the Catholic faith.” The obvious fact is, you have almost zero knowledge of the Catholic faith, and this is made more obscene by your claim to have once been a Catholic. If you were interested in, or capable of, a rational debate, then you’d do more than just flail about like a fish out of water. You’re no different than Kujo, who isn’t here to inform or to learn, but rather to insult and to cause trouble. I have yet to read a single interesting thing from you. Why don’t you surprise us all, and do something out of character for you… reply to earlier questions posed. If you would ever stop your arrogant process of so called faith, you would realize that there are more opinions of what the truth is and what is believed and what is not to be believed among the mere folks sitting in the pew next to you versus the Protestants that you accuse of differing on everything amongst themselves. I am not going to get into a war of wits with you over knowledge of the Catholic faith. **Let’s just suffice it to say that I know far more about it than you are giving me credit for **(that is not such a bad thing either).
Yes, I realised I probably sounded uncharitable to Manny, and should have worded my post less harshly. But while I would agree that other religions are not as effective a path to salvation as through Christ, before engaging in arguing against other religions we should study them and their ideas with caution and with attention to their depth before arguing against them.Well said, Greg… I agree…
This reminds me of St. Paul’s visit to Athens. He
planned to speak at the open air venue where the
philosphers of Greece discussed things philospophical… kind of like our present day
radio talk shows…!
In preparation for his address Paul familiarized
himself with the town, the people and their beliefs.
When he finally did speak he addressed the people
with a respectful deference and noted their
religious inclinations… He said something like
this… “I see that you are a religious people with
altars to your many gods. I see that you also have
an altar to the unknown God. I have come to
introduce you to Him today.”
Several prominent Greeks became believers that
day…
Paul had become quite the fisherman… the
apostle to the Gentiles!

Sometimes we show our love in a way and a fashion that is different from what we would have expected, or have been told.
If it should be the case that you come to see and understand same-sex sexual activity is not part of a natural order God gave for relationships, true love would demand ceasing and desisting from certain sexual behaviors.
Theres one good thing to remove your doubts about Mary… One wordI am interested in why former Catholics would never return back to the Catholic church. Here are three things that will keep me from returning:
- The manditory belief in the infallibility of the magisterium.
- The belief that Mary is a co-redemptrix with Christ.
- The unwillingness of the RC to acknowledge that God is wholly in other churches besides the RC.
I’m on a sub-section of the forum called “non-catholic religions” and I answered a thread that is COMPLETELY relevant to me. If anyone shouldn’t be in this particular thread it should be you. I answered the threads questions and others brushed on it and I answered them. In that sense why shouldn’t i be here? just because I don’t believe in what you do? and my sexuality is a REASON why I would never go back to the faith I brought it up in all truthfulness without shame so in that sense I’m not acting poorly at all. If anyone you are acting poorly and should leave this particular thread. Also I never asked anyone to debate with me I simply ANSWERED the thread. I will not pray for you because I do not believe in what I believe to be a superstition but I will hope the best for you.So Shadowfire, if you are so adamant that you don’t believe in catholicism, as you put it, why are you posting here? I appreciate your opinion, but no one here is going to talk you out of your gay behaviors, if those are what you desire. When someone has determined to behave in a certain way, they don’t typically wish to debate it. I sense that you brought out the concept of your sexuality so that someone might convince you that you are behaving poorly. I think you know that what you are doing is not fulfilling, and you are searching for something that might fill up what is lacking in your satisfaction. There is a place in my heart that only the Love of God can satisfy. Jesus fills that void, and He does it for all, when you begin to understand why He came! This, of course is just my opinion, but what do I know? I don’t know you, but you seem like a nice person. I hope you find everything you seek. I will pray for you, and please pray for me. For my health.
Thanks,
Kevin
No problem, I’m not really agitated just wanted to shine some logic. Peace be with you.Shadowfire, I apologize if I agitated you, that was not my intent. Again, I wish for you peace, and I thank you for wishing me well.

Well that’s a pretty good list of the differences between Christians and Jews too. Which is right? If the Jews hadn’t have wandered so far away from God maybe they would have all those concepts. On a number of occasions, the Book of Mormon introduces concepts that are historically out of time. These concepts were either introduced in the New Testament, or after the Jews were deported to Babylon, and thus after the Lehites left Jerusalem. This is significant because it supports the theory that the Book of Mormon originated in the nineteenth century.
Good morning, rmcmullan. Would you mind elaborating on that? dosdog makes a pretty good case of evidence for the 19th century origin of the Book of Mormon. I’m totally not following you in what you say above in response to that. Thanks.Well that’s a pretty good list of the differences between Christians and Jews too. Which is right? The religion that the Jews practised at the time of Christ was different in many respects from modern day Christianity. But Christianity was supposed to a continuation of the same God, same religion. So doesn’t it make sense that had the Jews been able to receive it, that the prophets would reveal more of what would appear to be modern day Christianity than a derivitaive teaching of the Law of Moses?Good morning, rmcmullan.
