For the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal, Pope Francis has decided to grant a plenary indulgence opportunity throughout the entire anniversary year, which began Nov. 27, 2016, and will end Nov. 26, 2017.

  1. Make a pilgrimage to the shrine
  2. Pray before any statue of Our Lady of Fatima
  3. Special consideration for elderly or infirm found on link.

You don’t have to go to Portugal. You can pray in front of any statue of Our Lady of Fatima – there is one in our church. I think they are fairly widespread.
But it looks like you need to participate in a mass or other celebration on the 13th of the month, any month.

I could not find a link in your post, but found this one: a PDF from the Diocese of Philadephia.

One can gain the indulgence by praying before a statue "solemnly exposed in any church, oratory…) on the 13th of the months between May and October inclusive. Or by going to Portugal…

There is a special way for those unable to do either of these if they are elderly or infirm.

Shame, I cannot get to Portugal and do not know where any of those particular statues are.

😦
Our Cathedral has one, with particular venerations planned for the 13’th of each month during the centenary.

It’s worth checking your Cathedral or any local parishes, particularly those with a Marian title.

Maybe a picture of a statue on the internet will be good??? They say if you watch a Mass on TV or on line you get the same blessings as if you were there…

The Indulgence for praying in front of a statue of Our Lady of Fatima, is for a statue displayed in public. It can be any size. You could get a small one for the next 5, 13ths of the Month. And ask you Priest if you guys can put the statue in the Church on that day.

Ours was put in the Marian Chapel for the day , today.

The Pope says we must
  1. Pray for his intentions
  2. Lord’s Prayer
  3. The Creed.
And the usual conditions for an Indulgence.

If you are aged or infirm or cannot travel ( infants, distance, carer etc) you can pray in Spirit on the day.

Is it necessary to pray before a statue of OLO F on EVERY 13th of May through October; or, does the 13th of one month suffice? I’m a little confused and want to make sure I understand the indulgence requirements clearly.

I would appreciate any and all answers.

Thank you.
