The Ryan Report’s websites are www.sillyoldtwit.com and from the church of Satan. come on now, do you really believe this to be true especially when these websites are not credible?
The Irish Bishops found it credible enough to say this:
The Ryan Report represents the most recent disturbing indictment of a culture that was prevalent in the Catholic Church in Ireland for far too long. Heinous crimes were perpetrated against the most innocent and vulnerable, and vile acts with life-lasting effects were carried out under the guise of the mission of Jesus Christ. This abuse represents a serious betrayal of the trust which was placed in the Church. For this we ask forgiveness. We are ashamed, humbled and repentant that our people strayed so far from their Christian ideals.

Listen to the podcast on the top of the page, broadcast from Vatican radio.

If you want to be taken seriously, dont undermine the suffering of the innocent and the attempts to right the wrongs of the past by the catholic church by linking to a personal blog called ‘‘sillyoldtwit’’. You discredit the church you claim to love.

Well my Pentacostal friend, if you want to talk about man made churches…er…The MEN in the Catholic church have failed. NOT the institution created by Jesus.
Nice try…😉 You can keep coming up with excuse after excuse…still a Protestant denomination. period.
This may be an aside. But I was wondering.

How come the Catholic church takes credit for the positive, like the Catholic church gave us the Bible. But when it comes to the negative the Catholic church passes the buck, like the MEN in the Catholic church have failed.

Sounds a tad inconsistent to me.

But them again, I am just a heretical Protestant that goes to an inferior church to the CHURCH CREATED BY JESUS.

The RyanReport is here: childabusecommission.ie/

Read the Executive Summary.

The Bishops response is here: kandle.ie/2009/06/11/ibc-june-ryan-report/

You calling the report as hailing from a twit and the church of satan, speaks volumns about your attitude to the victims, for which at least the catholic church accepted the report and responsibility and apologised to the victims.

In your pathetic attempt to belittle the actual hard evidence of rampant abuse within the church in Ireland, the most catholic country on the planet, you called the reports as coming from the church of satan.

The Church and her Bishops accept the report admitted responsibility and have apologied to the victims.

Can you see what you just said.

You need to thread carefully lest you expose yourself and your real intent.
You have a serious problem my friend. I got your information from a website called the Church of Satan, and a website called sillyold twit. Go on and read it! When I put in the Ryan Report, that is what came up. You STILL cannot answer my question about your abuses in YOUR churches, even though you say you don’t belong to one (which is worse), you can only comment on the Catholic church and their abuses. You are one way, a know it all, and an arrogant, insulting, uncharitable man. I hope you’re not like this when you decide to join the church Christ established because it won’t be tolerated…

No, I DEFEND the church I claim to love. Never once did I undermine the CC abuses, just try to show that we are the LEAST of ALL churches. Get it? Those are YOUR words and YOUR words only.

How is that passing the buck? The men have failed NOT the church Christ founded. What don’t you get here? Where is the inconsistency?🤷

I haven’t read every post, so this may have been brought up already.

A poster asked what the purpose of the thread is. Only the OP can answer that, but I think the post brings up a good point:that molestation has nothing to do with celibacy.

Non-celibate clergy and lay people commit abuse–apparently at a higher rate than celibate clergy. This problem isn’t about celibacy.

People imagine that molesting kids is the natural outcome of a man’s decision to be celibate. “This is what you get when you “make” men be celibate.” But does that make sense?

The men who abuse children have “access” to adults. If they are gay, they have access to many other gay men. If they are straight, they have access to many straight women. Priests don’t need to molest children to satisfy their needs. If they’re going to break their celibacy vow, they can break it the same way married men break their wedding vow–sex with another adult.

If that still doesn’t seem true to you, put yourself in the priest’s place. Imagine that your wife refuses to have sex with you. Still, you are bound by your marriage vow. Since that vow prevents you from having sex with anyone but your wife, and she is refusing you, you rape the boy next door.

Does that make sense to you? Would raping the boy next door be “what you get” when *you *can’t have sex because of a vow you took? Would you rape the boy or do without? If you’re going to break that vow, would you do it with a child or with another adult? Would you find another adult who agrees to have sex with you? Or would you find one to rape?

Imagine that you are on an island–no hope of rescue–ever. You are the only adult on the island, and you’re in charge of the 10 Boy Scouts who washed up on shore with you. There is no one else on the island. Do you resort to having sex with the boys?

While you can’t imagine yourself resorting to sex with young boys, even when there is no hope of rescue, how do you say that “that is what you get when priests take a vow of celibacy”? It makes no sense. Molesting children isn’t the result of taking a celibacy vow–Child molestation is the result of a disordered mind.

These disordered minds come in all kinds of bodies. Priests. Married men. Single men. Protestants. Jews. Muslims. Scout leaders. Policemen. Uncles. Fathers. Brothers. Neighbors. Teachers. Friends of the family. Posters on Internet boards about religion. Youth group leaders. Music ministers. Grandfathers. And of course, business card makers who have a direct line to God.

If you say that child molestation is the natural result of a vow of celibacy, then you are saying that you, too, would rape young boys if you could never have sex with an adult again. Do you really mean to say that?
