So if a gigantic invading force was about to conquer America and they needed to be slowed down while our main army prepared, you would say it was pointless for a small contingent of our army to give up their lives doing so? You would tell them it’s time to go home now? Don’t bother fighting, just let the enemy come and conquer your country? The Spartans and their allies at Thermopylae sacrificed their lives to keep the Persians from conquering the Greeks. And you call it pointless.:rolleyes:

While the battlecry of the Spartans is “Harooooo! Harooooo!” the battlecry of the Democrats is the sentence quoted above.

There are times in war when, unfortunately, the necessities of the situation require soldiers to fight to the end, to hold the pass at all costs, to never give up, so that others may be able to use that sacrifice to enable a retreat or regroup. No greater love has a man than to lay down his life for his friend.
 
Caught it on opening night, and I have to say that I loved it, though the nudity was something of a drawback, of course, but as Peterdiago has been saying, it *did *serve a purpose in the narrative.

In addition, I’d have to say that from what I’ve read, it seems that the movie is historically accurate in implying that the Spartans were disdainful of homosexuality and did not practice it.
