Before I begin let me explain the circumstances. We have a good computer and we have our head set plugged into a sound card ok. So I wanted to adjust it and it pops out so I told my grandma about it and she said that we would get a new one in the morning. So when I wake up my Mom stars to yell at me because there was no sound (I tried to fix it but failed) So whenever I tried to speak she would not listen to me so I started to yell at her and the more I tried the more she got mad the she grounded me. Is it a mortal sin? (If it is then at the time I didn’t know that it could be so if it is a mortal sin it would be venial sin correct. also I am a teen)

This is something to discuss with your parents or your pastor in the confessional. Strangers on the internet cannot tell you if something is a “mortal sin”.

It does not sound like it rises to grave matter, in my opinion. Certainly strive to be more charitable and level headed in the future.

No, it was not grave matter, and yes, if it was a mortal sin then you would not be culpable since you didn’t know it was at the time.

Every one of us, at one time or another, has been cross with his or her parents. Is it a sin? Yes. Is it a mortal sin? It depends. For a sin to be mortal, it must meet three conditions:
  1. The subject must be grave matter.
  2. The sin must be done with full consent.
  3. The subject must have full knowledge that it is a sin.
I don’t know if dishonoring your mother and father is grave matter. But you do have to take into account your loss of temper, the emotions you had at the time, and the context. We must always strive so honor our parents, even if they get on our nerves. But all of us lose our temper. Did you mean any ill will towards your parents? Probably not. Therefore I wouldn’t worry too much about it, as long as you strive to honor them in the future and/or make amends when you have wronged them.
