4 Corners Home Protection Kit

Hello, Catholic Answers, I was wondering what some of you think about this odd “ritual”, if that’s the correct way of putting it. As far as I know, I’ve only ever heard of this from an alleged mystic named Sondra Abrahams. I made a previous thread about my findings on this woman, but thought it was important to go further into this particular matter.

“…Through a mystic several years ago, we were told we could protect ourselves and homes/property by doing what is prescribe in the home protection kit. With the blessing of a good and holy priest we were told that this kit is much needed now and in the very near times ahead and recommended it for all Catholic Homes. We put this packet together with instructions on how to apply this kit to your home.”

Kit Contains:
1 Rosary, 1 Scapular, 1 Benedictine Medal, 1 Miraculous Medal, Deliverance Prayer and Instructions."

Each of these items are to be buried at the four corners of your property and will supposedly protect your home.

I have serious doubts about this, especially since it comes from a “visionary”. For one, isn’t burying religious items a way of disposing them? Why use a rosary and scapular in a way it’s not intended for? Personally, I find this borders on superstition, but would like to know if it’s harmless or dangerous for your soul. This is important because Sondra instructed me to bury these four items TOGETHER in each corner, which quadruples what she told this person to do. I am beginning to regret what I’ve done and feel like digging these items back up.

I would get rid of all of it. It sounds like borderline witchcraft to me and not something from the Church.

I would not conduct this ritual, or participate in it. If you have, well, this might constitute witchcraft, and it needs to be confessed, repented and absolved.

I would not dig the items up until I had a chance to discuss it with a priest or other authority. Are these really Holy objects, given the source? Have they been contaminated by their use as objects of witchcraft? Is there danger in digging them up and taking possession of them? How can you remove them without danger? Holy water? Do they need to be re-sanctified? I do not know, and ignorance can be dangerous!

You need to talk to your priest or some other authority about the dangers of digging these items up, and about the dangers of leaving them buried!

I bought the Holy objects, so I think I should be fine. I have no idea what the kit is all about and only know about it from the blog post, but it is strange the link to buy it and the website it was on is dead and I cannot find it anywhere else. I don’t what the true intentions of this is, if it’s mere superstition or straight up voodoo/witchcraft (Sondra is from Louisiana, after all), but nonetheless, it’s a waste of perfectly good religious items to me.

Sounds like superstition to me, and probably a gimmick to make money or make a name. I think the “witchcraft” line would be drawn in regards to the prayers in the manual and the ritual. It sounds like they were advocating getting a priest, and I highly doubt a priest would do a voodoo/witchcraft ritual. They would probably bless the home with a normal catholic home blessing. This leads me to think it’s just superstition…probably not to dissimilar from burying St. Joseph statues upside down to sell a home.

You can always ask a priest to come over and bless your home, especially if you’re feeling uncomfortable with the whole thing. They can do it the right way.

While I do agree that one should not participate in this ritual and might very well be a good situation to bring to the confessional; however, let us not go into the deep end, DandyLion7 is at best unaware of the nature of this ritual, as evidenced by the post/question here; thus, most likely lacking the requirements of full knowledge and consent for a mortal sin.
Of Course, it’s strongly encouraged to take venial sins to the confessional, and what better time than during Lent?

Rarely a bad idea to discuss situations like this with a priest; however, it makes no sense not to go ahead and dig these items up, have them blessed, and arrange to have the house blessed

Mike, the problem with the remainder of your post, upon which the advice not to dig these items up appears to be based, is that DandyLion7 has already taken possession of these items; thus, if there was any curse or demonic attachment, DandyLion7 has already been potentially exposed.

Why not just use the St. Benedict medal, and get it exorcised (it is an approved medal)
And use the other stuff besides that instructions thing. The whole thing sounds superstitious. Just dig them back up, clean them, and use them properly. The only time we bury sacramentals is when the are broken.

IMHO: again, please, get away from this person and anything to do with this person… even if her attempts are well intentioned, her actions are to be avoided and may lead you to the near occasion of sin.

Naming of the Angels outside of those named in scripture, St. Michael, St. Gabriel, St. Raphael, is strongly discouraged by the Church from everything I’ve read… indeed, an angel of the Lord rebukes Manue for even asking (ok, Manue may not have known the person he was talking to was an angel; however, the angel plainly tells Manue - you do not need to know nor am I telling you):

There’s a deeper concern in naming, or trying to discover the name of, our guardian angels. The difficulty lies in discerning which spirits are responding to your seeking. Looking further into this “deliverance prayer”, there are a lot of prayers under this category and all sound like some sort of do-it-yourself exorcism.

Yes, prayers for deliverance from evil, hardship, etc… are quite common even the Our Father and the Hail Mary contain such; however, these are a bit different than a exorcism.
Personally, I wouldn’t try a “do-it-yourself” exorcism - once you start dealing with such things you can get into the deep-end of the pool very quickly - even if it’s nothing more than simple self-delusion, this path can lead one to trouble.

I really cannot stress enough my opinion that you should walk away from the rest of this nonsense that you’ve ran across on Sondra’s site, or for that fact, anything similar to it.

It’s actually been about two years since I buried the items, so I may have forgotten the exact spots. But, that’s what metal detectors are for. :yyeess:

And don’t worry, I completely reject Sondra, especially after some of her recent prophecies. I’m just staying neutral on the discussion, but I personally believe she’s dangerous and could be working with supernatural forces not from God after digging deep enough. Wether she’s aware or not is unclear.

Here are some posts by a woman named Judy who said she would’ve never met Sondra if she hadn’t become gravely ill during her visit to Rosa Mystica House of Prayer. Very akin to false miracles.

It is not an uncommon practice to put some kind of medal, such as the St. Benedict Medal, in the corners of your property as a form of protection against diabolical activity. This should not be done with a disposition of superstition, however; the efficacy of this is dependent on the person’s prayer and petition for spiritual protection, not on some material object.
