Hello all,
I have felt moved to do something for Father Francis of Life on the Rock of EWTN since the announcement of him departing EWTN to further discern his vocation in life. Immediately, I began to pray for him as many have. I then thought I would sacrifice and offer a day of fasting for him, but after I still felt and feel inspired to do more. It came to me that I would offer up a special forty days for him, and I thought I would throw the idea out there for those who also feel compelled to help in any small ways. The smallest act offered with love can change the world, well I know St. Therese the little flower said something to that effect more eloquently. Perhaps you may like to join in your own unique way and offer up forty days for Father Francis. There are many things that can be done. Along with praying, I decided to abstain from meat, anything with sugar and bread and grains for forty days. I’ll give up my cream and sweet and low in my coffee. I will give up my favorite mindless tv shows for him for forty days. I can walk a little more for him, dust for him, vacuum for him, simply offer up all those things I resist doing for him to add value to them, and take away things that don’t benefit me anyway for him. Everyone has their own list of things. I started officially today, but if anyone wants to do it any day is a good start day, it keeps it going longer anyway. I believe there is strength in numbers. He’s family to me; all the EWTN folks are, and my prayer is that he fully opens himself up to the will of God, and becomes free from any tricks the devil is playing on him, and this woman. Again just thought I’d throw it out there. You are all in my prayers. God Bless Maria-Christina

I am sorry to hear that he might be leaving. I will add him to my prayers in my weekly Adoration for 40 days.

This is just one priest that we know of that is going through difficult times. Let’s offer 40 days for all priests and religious.:gopray:

  • Had first chance to view LOR Sunday night. Not a good idea to read Fr. Francis’ letter. Goes all around the world about the unamed widow and children, but we pray he will be able to turn this around. Christians hope. A wise priest viewer, who knows the religious life very well, saw this coming many months ago. At the beginning, under Fr. Joseph, 2 young priests went off. One could see things develop over the broadcasts. A superior from another order (Fr. Angelus) was sent. There was no election of a superior from the Friars themselves until recently. Unusual. Living in the limelight is tough. Everyone is watching you. One of the oddest things is that from the Pope on down, at all Masses in the Catholic world, the “osculum pacis” (kiss or sign of peace) is exchanged. It has Apostolic origins and is a ritual in the old Latin Missal for the clergy only in Solemn High Masses. But, on EWTN, it is forbidden. Jesus embraced his Apostles and washed their feet. Signs are important for the Holy Liturgy and for our lives. In the peace of Christ, Aurelius

I don’t really know how to respond to a response yet, this is all kind of new to me, but great! The more we think of and do for our priests the better.

In addition to praying for Fr. Francis, everyday, I email him a daily prayer for priests (a different one each day). MFVA and EWTN forward emails to Fr. Francis. I pray they reach his heart.

I think that’s a wonderful idea, all of them are. I will say prayers and rosaries but not just for him, but for all religious that are struggling. Fr. Francis is just in the news because he is on TV. If he was a “behind the scenes” priest, older and not as attractive, I dare say, some of the commotion would be less. Everyone feels like they know or even have a say in someone they “meet” through TV. I love Fr. Groechel and loved meeting him in person, but I realize he is a holy priest like many out there, and it was EWTN that brought him to me. I am grateful for that but threre are a lot of wonderful men and women in God’s work I will never know and for them I pray too.
