I am reading the article on Eucharistic Adoration in the July/August issue of Catholic Answer Magazine, and on page 14, it says that Jesus was in the tomb for 40 hours. Didn’t Jesus say that the sign/proof that He is who who says He is, is not the fact that He will be resurrected, but the length of time that He’ll be in the tomb before His resurrection? The sign of Jonah (3 days/3 nights) … or something like that?

Am I missing something? This has me thoroughly confused.

Thank you

3 pm Friday to 9 am Sunday is around 40 hours and spans three days. If you count the darkness that fell at his crucifixion, His death spanned three nights as well.
