There is nothing wrong with the scenario of a 43 year old man having a girlfriend that is a senior in high school if they are not engaging in fornication.

I always found it funny when high school girls go for older folks…and always wondered why older guys went for high school girls… I’m sure that there are many 16yr old girls who date 27 year olds like myself…but I can not imagine being in a relationship with someone that young! In my experience, girls don’t figure out their life’s mission until they are 30 or so. One min they want to party life away, the next they want to stay home, etc…

This doesn’t appy to good Catholic girls, though!
 
If I dated a boy who was a senior in HS I would be dating someone who is the same age as my own children. UHG!!! :nope:

Since I know the maturity level of most Senoirs in HS I would wonder why a 43 year old would want to have anything to do with (relationship wise) a 17/18/19 year old if it has nothing to do with sex. Unless, this “Senior” is an adult who has decided to go back to school and get their HS diploma.

Tell us Albert is this 43 year old man you?
 
Are you asking if it is OK for a 43-year-old to have a relationship with a girl approximately 25 years younger than himself?

One would have to ask the girl’s parents.

This parent would put a stop to it instantly. Not that there is harm in the heart of the man (who would probably be more wholesome company than boys her own age), but a senior in high school is on the cusp of growing towards the ultimate choice of her mate in life, and such a relationship would derail the necessary maturing process.

A 25-year age gap might not mean much between a 60-year-old and a 35-year old, but the further up or down the age scale you go, the more problematic it is. The likelihood of anything lasting coming out of it is almost zilch.

So I would look at it not so much as “right” or “wrong” but more as fitting or realistic.

Are you referring to the news story about the 43 yr. old man who was just arrested for bringing the 16 year old he enticed on the internet from Washington D.C. 3000 miles to Washington state? The girl diasappeared after school–and was found naked in bed in a subsidized housing complex and admits to having had sex in several states during the trip. I certainly hope you are not condoning this.

And…what possible interest would a 43 year old male have in a high school girlfriend other than to get her into bed?

Yes I am the man in question. The reason that I wish to get married to a woman that is 25 years younger then I am is so that I can become a father over the age of 60. The girl is almost 18 years old.

Why would anybody have a problem with a girl who is a high school senior having a boyfriend who is 25 years older? If I get married to that girl next year when she is a freshmen in college she is going to remain in college and also become a mother with our first child.

It sounds completely inappropriate to me. If I were in your position (this day and age), I would never have started a relationship with a girl 25 years younger than I to begin with, nor would I ever be willing to let it develop, for the welfare of the girl if nothing else. Forgive me for thinking that this is pedophilic, when a year younger it would be considered statutory rape in some states.

Have you consulted a priest? Have you talked to the girl’s family?

It seems to me that you’re only wanting to use this girl. It doesn’t sound like you love her, but that you just want to use her to fulfill your “plan” for your life. And why can’t you find someone closer to your age to have children with?

I’m sorry, but she’s only 17 right now. You need to find someone your own age, or at least close to it. If you were actually sleeping with her, you could be arrested for statitory rape. Personally, I think the situation is sick and disturbing. 😦 :bigyikes:

Are you for real!!! How is it that you can’t find an ADULT woman with whom to have a relationship, marriage, family??? There are certainly many legitimate relationships in which a significant age spread exists…but only when both are adults. Where one party is a child and the other is a quarter century her senior…something is very amiss and it’s usually called pedophilia. I wouldn’t let you within 2 blocks of my kids!!!

You can have children with a woman who is a post college graduate all the way up into her thirties. Heck, you can have a child with a woman your own age, for that matter. Why are you waiting until you are sixty to have children? Actually, your reason for marrying this girl sounds a little selfish to me.

I have to be honest, Albert. I have a 17 year old daugher and if she started dating a man who was the same age as her father and I, I would freak (a son in law my age? creeps me out).

I can’t see anything wrong about it in the eyes of God if you are both consenting adults and you go about it in a spiritual way and stay true to your faith. But, there are alot of “maturity” issues I would be concerned about if I were you and her and her family.

Have you both gotten any pastoral guidance on this?

Does she know all this? And who’s going to be raising the baby while she’s in school? Or is she going to have to do both?

I agree with Island Oak-which shows you just how twisted this is because she and I usually don’t agree on much-this situation is sick and twisted. I think you should be thrown into jail. :mad:

You are either extreemly GOOD LOOKING or your are VERY RICH. OR, she is using you as a trophy to show off to her friends that she can get an older man. Why else would a teenager want anything to do with old farts like us. I could not imagine dating or marring anyone young enough to be my daughter. They have a word for old men who date teenagers - Pedofile.
