50th Birthday Gift

In a couple of weeks I turn 50, and dh has no idea what to give me. Honestly, I can’t really think of anything I want.

I was thinking of asking him for a list of 50 things he loves about me.

What have you received or given for a 50th b-day?

What an awesome gift that would be, KCT.

When I turned 50 my daughter give me a big box containing 50 gifts that were 50 in some way: 50 paper napkins; a 50th birthday badge; 250ml of moisturiser; a 5 and a 0 candle; etc - it was so unusual and such fun to go through.

I decoupaged a tray for a friend, bought a pretty teapot, cups and a selection of special tea - she loves tea.

I have seen gifts like some kind of beauty/pampering.

I gave my husband a coffee-table book on nature.

My mum made a photobook with old photos of her sister for her 50th with (funny) poetry around the pictures. I thought it was cool.

How about things you love to do, or something that makes you life easier. Movie tickets, Chocolate bar voucher, car wash tickets, massage gift certificate…

When I turned 49, I had an ‘advent’ year to prepare for my jubilee 50th. Kind of a year of lent. lol I told God that for my 50th, He could surprise me with whatever He wanted, and because he’s so big, I expected something big!! (Please keep in mind my size though, Lord!) Perhaps too late to do a year of lent, but don’t make the 50th just one weekend! lol

However, there were way less than 80 significant events on that day So instead, I wrote a count down of the 80 biggest events that happened the year of her birth. And on the lasy page, the #1 event was she was born

I do not know what to tell you, this year I am going to celebrate my 49th birthady for the fifth time. Maybe in a couple of years I will celebrate my 50th birthday, I will let you know when it will happen.

We booked a party room at a Chinese restaurant and invited all of my friends. Did you know that 50 is your “golden birthday”? All of the gifts were wrapped in gold paper, and the colour scheme was gold and green.

I have no problem with the idea, plus our 3rd grandson is due right around my b-day. How exciting is that?!

My suggestion list includes:

Dh arranging for the kids and my mom to meet us for dinner (location to be a surprise to me).
Jubilee= gold, so something gold.
List of 50 things he loves about me, and suggesting the kids collaborate on something similar (50 top memories or something)
Gift certificate for a pedicure
Cook and do dishes for a week (he’s a good cook)

We’ll see…

CM, that is so sweet! Did she love it?

Since you asked, here are the details. At first she was a bit surprised to see a big envelop in the mail from me because I call her all the time. Then, I put it in a blck duo-tang which she found odd, but after opening it, she REALLY loved it. It was also a bit humourous because I had categories such as natural disasters and famous people’s birthdays. Also, my mom is of Irish decent so when there was an event from Ireland, the font was green.

And the best is on the last page, I put a picture of both of us. Usually, when you put a picture of a deceased person, the birthday and the day of death is printed. So instead of a death day (since she was obviously still alive) I put ‘forever in my heart’

My dad actually got a kick out of it and they brought it to my mom’s big birthday bash to show the family (I lived to far to attend). My dad must have read it 50 times.
