54 day rosary novena

Hello,

I think I am going to commence a 54 day rosary novena in a shortened form.
The novena entails praying 15 decades of rosary for 9 days for petition and then another 9 days in thanksgiving. In other words, by the end of the short 54 day rosary novena I will have prayed 18 15-decade rosaries.

I have a question about how I will do this novena. My daily schedule is somewhat unpredictable and it differs from day to day. I can have lots of spare time in one day and barely no time to spare in other days. so for example, let’s say on Monday I had lots of spare time, and on Tuesday I was really busy. Can I choose to pray 25 decades of rosaries on Monday (since I have lots of time on that day) and 5 decades of rosary on Tuesday (since I am busy that day)? If I prayed 15 decades on each day, I would have prayed 30 decades of the rosary by Tuesday, and if I pray 25 decades on Monday and 5 decades on Tuesday I will still end up with the same number of decades.

Can I do it this way? or do I need to pray 15 decades of rosary everyday no matter what?

PS: I AM intending to pray rosary** everyday** for 18 days, but it’s just that the number of decades prayed on each day will be different…during those 18 days, everyday I will pray at least 5 decades of rosary.

To anwer your question to the point: It is prayed one Mystery per day – or 5 decades.

With that out of the way, I think, not sure, I know where you are coming from. The [Traditional] Rosary, in its entirety consists of three (3) sets of Mysteries (before the Luminous were added); however, when we Catholics (including Priests, et al.) speak of the Rosary, we mean one set of Mysteries or five (5) decades. Therefore, the 54-Day Rosary Novena (“the Novena”) consists of one Mystery (5 decades) each day.

The prayers of the Novena are extremely beautiful. If you want to take a look at the thread for the Novena that a group here did during Lent of 2014, you may look at it at 54-Day Rosary Novena. That thread might be able to help you. Its history and all the prayers are right on the thread. I did mine without the Luminous Mysteries.

I have a chart/calendar to keep track of the Mysteries. Let me know if you would like a copy of that and I will see how I may post it or something for you. Please note that in some countries we have the option of praying either The Act of Contrition or The Creed, but I think in the USA The Creed is always prayed. Not sure of that one.
