Hello,

I am interested in starting a 54 day rosary. I was curious if there is any deviation from praying the normal rosary when praying the 54 day rosary. All of the information online seems to be a little confusing. Is there any difference, other than ensuring to pray the rosary every day?

I was also curious about the Servite Rosary, or the Rosary of Seven Sorrows. Do I need to have a particular set of rosary beads for this prayer? I am also having a difficult time finding information on the proper way to pray this rosary. Any information is appreciated!

This is the guide I always use for a Rosary novena, which, by the way, has proved to be an extremely powerful and effective novena! I highly recommend it!!

As for the others you mentioned, I’m not sure. Perhaps someone else can help with that!

Am I to pray the 54 day novena in addition to, or in lieu of, the traditional rosary prayer?

As I understand it, you say it in addition to your daily rosary. However, I said it once when I was no longer in the habit of saying a daily rosary. I just said at least one mystery a day for the 54 days and still has success! Do what you can, I say. Our Lady seems to appreciate anything we offer, no matter how small 🙂

A 54 day Rosary is said in the same manner as the traditional Rosary. It is said for a particular intention, as with any Novena, except its done for 54 consecutive days rather than 9.

The Rosary of the Seven Sorrows, or Servite Rosary has its own set of beads which helps to keep one on track. I have purchase several on ebay. They are highly sought after and can be very expensive depending on their construction. Some are made with aluminum medals and are very light weight. I prefer the older heavier rosaries. I have been saying this Rosary for several years every day. I found a set of meditations that I include that is derived from the Douay Bible. Here is a link to the meditations; olrl.org/pray/msorrows.shtml

God Bless
