Today is/was my 27th day and tomorrow I start the thanksgiving block half. How do I do this when my prayer intentions is still in the pending stage how to tell the difference between resumption and confidence or am I just thanking for listening to my prayers?

You’re always supposed to “thank God ahead of time” (as Blessed Solanus Casey said). The 54-day Novena likewise gives thanks to Mary for her loving help, ahead of time. There are a number of prayers and novenas that do this.

I am saying one also and thanking her for things that haven’t yet happened. You trust God to take care of the matter in the best way and give your thanks now.

We are in the second half of our Rosary novena. How nice to hear others are doing it as well.

Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

So the intention isn’t “supposed to be” granted at the 27 day mark, but the 54th?

Right,I will, but in stories of the intention being granted, was it usually at a certain time, like the 27th day?

Yes it seems like the miracles usually happen before the Thanksgiving prayers start.

It’s superstitious to say “intention will be granted at day X”.

Intention is granted when God wills it to be granted. Or not.

Could be granted on day 1, could be granted on day 27, could be granted a year after you’re done praying, or not at all if God says no.

The scary part is God saying no before you finish, you would have to thank Him for not answering your prayers.

You’re missing the point of why we pray. It’s not just to ask and get. It’s also to grow closer to God. If we accomplish this (getting closer to God), then we understand better when he says No and we know it’s because he has something better in store for us or he really needs us to just tough things out for a while. That doesn’t mean we don’t get frustrated sometimes when our prayers don’t seem to be effective, but you will be getting benefits from praying nonetheless.

How do you grow closer to God if He were to say no to an urgent prayer and your life goes up in smoke? If someone I love was drowning in a lake and someone saved her life I would want to thank that person forever but if they stood there and watched them drown how could I have affection for that person?

When you love and trust God, your life can never “go up in smoke”. Yes, you may have bad times, even miserable times, I have had my share recently, but you are never alone. Also, even if you are without God, you’re still going to have bad and miserable times because that’s how life is. We all have them. Would you rather go through those times alone, or would you prefer to have Jesus with you?

I realize this may not make much sense if you’re not deeply into a relationship with God at this point. But the more you pray sincerely and build that relationship, the more it makes sense.

Praying a 54-day Rosary novena is not just about “gimme this favor”, it’s about building up the habit of praying the Rosary every day. Over time that can become as important as, if not more important than, getting the favor.

So i guess if your praying for your health and he says no then its His will that you live sick.

…if it is in HIS WILL it will be granted. If is not then…you just have to accept whatever is bothering you and trust god and live with it…

Basically, yes. You can of course ask him to help you to better accept his will and do his will.

You can also ask him to let certain things happen if it be his will, but remember that Jesus himself prayed that prayer and found out his Father’s will was different from what he was praying for, so he accepted the will of his Father. (The whole “Let this cup pass from me…” Agony in the Garden before the Passion.)

If you are praying the 54-day Rosary Novena, there are specific places in the rosaries where you ask for the grace of Resignation to God’s Will and/or Obedience to God’s Will and/or Humility in the sense of accepting God’s Will.

If it is God’s will and that cannot be changed then it does seem hard praying an nothing but surely not everything is in His will, surely there are things in life that He hasn’t chosen to happen and these He can change for you with prayer?

Scripture has examples of God being moved through prayer, so it can and does happen.

The important thing is always to keep the faith whether the outcome is what you wanted or not.

^So as withe the above, if I am praying for a terminal illness to heal, then I shouldnt just say " if it be your will, let me heal" or " help me to carry this cross" but first pray with confidence to our Lord and Lady with faith…and if its granted then it is, if not well…

thanks for the answers…I also started praying my 54 day novena just 5 days ago for some very desperate and seemingly hopeless cases that would need a miracle
