An update - I returned to the convenience store and the same woman was working. I got an “Uh oh” as soon as I stepped in. “Glad you’re still ok, hun. Don’t buy the same things as last time.”

I may need to find a new gas station. 😃
 
What did you think of the new movie’s Dr. McCoy? I thought, realizing how tough it is to duplicate a legend like that, he captured the spirit as well as anyone could 😃

:confused: the what? lol! never heard of these. the bianary system i believe is for computers but what is the hexadecimal system? im math illiterate. only know how to add subtract multiply and divide.😃 never have heard this term before. is it trig?
 
I remember when the DJIA went up that much one day back in the late 80s/early 90s. The news caster made some funny comment.

Anyway, at work, I was showing another co-worker how to program in Microsoft Access. It just so happened that her user ID was that number. She laughed and said something like, “I don’t want that number!”

I actually thought the new movie was awesome! There were so many tie-ins to the show that I kept saying, “I remember that!!” 😃

(I guess I had been a bit skeptical about how good of a job they would do.)
 
My thoughts exactly! For some reason, I hated the trailer and didn’t have high hopes for the film…wow was I wrong! 😃
 
Maybe I’m just sentimental because I’ve seen Deforest Kelley (McCoy), Shatner, and company live in person and have autographs, grew up adoring the show, but I never went to see the new flick.

Star Trek is cerebral, thought-provoking, conceptual sci-fi with a social, political, philosophical current to it. The new film looked too much like Star Wars and the typical remake mentality. Star Trek has never been a high-action blast-a-thon, but, like I said, cerebral exploration with a touch of action. It didn’t look good to me at all.

I was slow to get into Next Generation even but as I gave it a chance and met some of the cast (Frakes, Sirtis, etc.) I came to see it had much in common with the old series and kept the themes and ideas and mythos going.

This new movie is, because he’s gone, post Roddenberry and I kind of look at that like I do the “Dune” series after Frank Herbert died and his son hijacked the franchise and made “prequels…”

I’m a stubborn sucker LOL…
 
I met the late, great DeForest Kelley. What a lovely man. Got his autograph and everything. He also wrote me later and sent me a book of his poetry and two pics autographed after already seeing him at the convention.

I ran into Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, literally bumped right into her and we talked for the longest time. What a sweet and gracious lady. She was regular people and down to earth. I was broken-hearted to hear of her passing a couple years ago or so.

I ran into Walter Koenig, too, and we talked, took some pics, autographs–nothing like walking around and running into Chekov. LOL

I met Jonathan Frakes (Riker), Marina Sirtis (Troi), John DeLancy (Q), Grace Lee Whitney (Yeoman Rand from the original show), met and got the autograph of Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) and I was very blessed to see the late Gene Roddenberry in person about one and a half years later he died…Star Trek conventions used to be a blast before some dufus got the bright idea to charge people just to sit down and listen to these guys, charge people for autograph, charge for certain seats, charge to blow your nose, etc…

I shared the exact same sentiments about the movie. I didn’t like the look of it, or the actors, or anything I heard about it. I didn’t WANT to like it because it wasn’t real. Someone bought me a ticket and dragged me to it. I’m glad they did. Maybe give it a shot sometime; the first few minutes will definitely grab you. Even Eric Bana wasn’t completely horrible in it 😃

Sts. Data, Riker, and Worf always seem to be on the same Away Team when hand-to-hand combat is anticipated. 😃
 
But in case anyone’s wondering whether or not we’re off topic, I can assure you that we’re most certainly not. The Beast at Tanagra’s number was 666. 😃
