Roxann:

This is a sad situation and I am sorry for you.

You are doing good. There’s usually a pattern to this inevitable result, and the obvious missing piece is dad. This is exactly where this boy counts on his parents for guidance, and his prime role model seems absent, either in indifference or physically.

Years ago Catholics married devout Catholics for a good reason, and children weren’t born unless a stable unital family was present. This is not to say it was perfect, but it was the best we could count on and for the most part it worked.

There are of course the bad examples of modern society such as permissible divorce and other available trappings of men’s desires rather than God’s now available in other “religions”. Compounding of sin through generations has made intrinsic wrong such has HS a right to suit these very desires.

When we instruct our children to go to mass, confession and observe other obligations, the fruits of these actions are not visible to the senses, but they heap on added graces to help us discern and turn away from satan’s presentation of these sins has delectable enticements. Who’s to say what the effect could have been if only one would have obeyed.

In a case like this you need special help and sacrifice on your part, but with God nothing is too far gone that it can’t be repaired. The measure of the amount you care will be watched closely. I would start a devotion to the Sacred heart, and to the Rosary daily. I would offer myself to some charitable cause in my spare time, never accepting payment, but a casual mention for the individual to remember me in his prayers. My own state will be friendship with God by the assurance of confession and mass.

If your daughter is indeed devout and receptive, suggest reading Sirach and Wisdom, and moral inspirations of Romans and Corinthians. Get her to TAKE THE BOY TO CHURCH with her, very important, here he will receive extra blessings.

Devotion information can be obtained through: www.theholyrosary.org

God will slowly turn the table for the better if you are sincere and determined, and you will ensure that you are receptive to signs of opportunity, being never argumentative, but always patient and open to receive these victims while they suffer the pangs of reversal by God’s effects sure to come (the battle between God and satan will become evident through them). You will know what is happening and that will give you added hope and happiness, and it will further strenghten your resolve.

Thank you all for your responses. My daughter isn’t a lesbian, she is married and has been for 10 years to a lovely man. Also, she has not taught my grandson the “mechanics” of sexual relations–that would inappropriate since he is only six. But she does have a lot of friends who are homosexual. **My grandson has been to a parade in New York for “gay pride day” **and it has been explained to him that homosexuals love and have sexual relations with people of the same sex…
I was troubled when I first read that your daughter is sewing approval for homosexual activities in your young grandson’s heart, as this in itself is scandalous.

But to hear that she took him to a gay pride parade???
That is deeply deeply scandalous and uncharitable for her to do, not to mention shocking. Not only is she guilty of scandal by expressing approval to her friends for their sins, but she is risking grave damage to your grandson’s conscience and even sexual development. The overt displays of perverted sexuality at pride parades would be enough to disturb anyone, let alone a 6 year old. I am deeply unsettled by your daughter’s behavior, and I will be praying for her, but especially for her son, that he may not be damaged by her choices. Go to a priest- Run.

As the Love of God comes through a relationship with Him, the doctrines of the Church point to this relationship and as people have the ability to reject this, all we can do is point out this “way” to that relationship. The rejection of this “way” results in problems that point back to the solutions offered by the doctrines of the Church. Our job is to lovingly point to the solution to sin, Jesus and His Church and to pray for grace to be given to those involved. Disdain for people because of their ideals, even bad ideals, is not Christian. Be a beacon to the Light of Christ for those in the fog of worldliness.

It is no kindness to tell people, in the interest of being loving, that what is wrong is OK to do in opposition to God. There are curses in the Bible to those who lead others astray, especially the young. Calling those who point out the errors of sin “hateful” indicates a lack of relationship with God and of being not in communion with His Church.

As someone else said, its a little disconcerting that your daughter is telling your 6yr old grandson about homosexual sex. I’m a little worried about that bit. Maybe get some sense into the lad when he’s at your place? Try to teach him the proper Catholic doctrines and teachings if your daughter won’t. Good luck!

immature? I actually think she is being very mature. Isn’t is better to raise a child with ideal of love rather than hate? We shouldn’t hate or look down on Gays just because they love what we (you) don’t understand. It is still love! To me hate is sin.
 Where do you get hate out of this? Oh, I know…the old, tired, argument about how the homophobic Church hates gays. Hmmm. Using your logic, Pedophilia that is a loving relationship is still love.

To ALL of us, hate is sin, except to hate the sin, while loving the sinner. 🙂
I agree. Most of the responses in this thread are ridiculous, if not ignorant. Allow your daughter to raise her son as she pleases. He is HER son. I can’t believe someone mentioned that the mother might be abusing him! She is teaching him to be tolerant. OP, don’t be upset when you drive a wedge between you and your daughter (and eventually your grandson).
OK, let’s use your logic: It’s nobody’s business but the daughter’s as to how she raises her children. OK…so if the daughter teaches the son that it’s OK to be involved in a some kind of pedophilic abuse, it’s nobody’s business but hers. Hmmmm. If the daughter decides no longer to be a “good” Catholic, and teaches the son that God isn’t really real, but imaginary, like the tooth fairy (no pun intended), it’s nobody’s business but hers. Hmmmmm.

Tolerance is not the same as acceptance, friend. What she seems to be teaching is acceptance.

Tough situation for Grandpa; I feel for you, Gramps, and can’t imagine the turmoil. Good plan for speaking to a priest. We’ll pray for you and your family.

… Also, she has not taught my grandson the “mechanics” of sexual relations–that would inappropriate since he is only six. …it has been explained to him that homosexuals love and **have sexual relations with people of the same sex. **
How do you do both of what you mentioned above? How do you not teach a six year old the “mechanics” of sexual relations and then explain that homosexuals have sexual relations with people of the same sex? What does this poor six year old think that your daughter is talking about? What an unfortunate burden to place on a child who is being used to advance the position of a mother with morality issues…teachccd

Perhaps the mother was unaware of what actually goes on at Gay Pride parades. The nudity, the simulated sex acts, the signs with very offensive language and pictures. I think any mother that had a genuine concern for her child’s emotional development would have left immediately.

This IS child abuse. Not because of his exposure to graphic depictions of homosexual sex, but because of his exposure to graphic depictions of sex PERIOD. Many experts agree that too early exposure to sex is harmful to the proper emotional development of the child. That it will actually traumatize the child’s psyche. This is why exposing a child to pornography IS CONSIDERED A FORM OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE and is punishable by law in many states.

Your daughter is more than going against the Church’s teaching on sex, and her vocation as a mother. She is going against our cultural and societal norms and is embracing views held by NAMBLA an organization that promotes sex with children. Even non-Catholics would shun such a belief.

You are right to bealarmed. Your daughter’s souls is in serious jeopardy and your grandson is in serious need of healing and intervention.

I understand that you must act prudently. But YOU MUST ACT IMMEDIATELY. I recommend you follow through and talk to a priest AND your daughter.

PRAY PRAY PRAY … I will remember you, your grandson and your daughter in my prayers.

The homosexual element is not even needed to warrant your immediate attention.

Why do you equate disapproval with hate?

And, we are supposed to love everyone, not everything they do.
I’m equating disapproval with hate here because most these resonses ares hateful. Gay relationships on the other hand contain the most genuine love of any relationships I believe and therefore I don’t see why they are sinful. I personally believe most catholic’s christains are misinterpreting Christ’s words.

Really??

So…

it’s okay to for a 6-year-old to see this:

This is how this culture proudly identifies itself.
You call that genuine love? Genuine love not only requires charity between one another, but also charity for everyone else. Displays like these are not charitable to anyone involved.

And don’t forget genuine love requires CHASTITY. Those disgusting pictures in no way depict anything chaste.

No one said anything about “hate” except for you. Being called to a chaste life does not mean you’re hated. Unmarried people should not have sexual relations, even if they are in love.

Teaching a 6 year old about sexual intercourse is inapporpriate. Nor does that mean homosexuals are hated.
They aren’t allowed to be married!!! Try loving someone so deeply you couldn’t contain it and not have sex. If you could I would galdly call you a saint. Homosexuals aren’t allowed to be married because of stupid conservative beliefs. No **** they are going to have sex. No one in their right mind would be chaste for life living alongside their loved one.

Um… what?

I only made two posts, both of which were geared toward answering the OP’s question (which was: am I right to be alarmed at this?) and providing advice. My answer was that, yes, she should be VERY alarmed. My advice was that she should run to a priest.

I hardly think my posts qualify as hijacking…😊

Teaching tolerance is not the goal in life. We ought to seek God in life, and that includes love God, love your neighbor, and avoid sin. Hence, we need to educate children about love and sin, good and evil. Tolerance is being used as a synonym for everything is OK as long as you are happy with it. That is not Christ’s message. Remember He died for us and our sins? And … why on Earth does a 6 year old need to know about gay sex? or any kind of sex at all? Nonsense and not Christian, at all.
How Christian is it to judge a person’s skills as a parent? But I’m gonna leave it at that or I might judge you, LOL. It shouldn’t be tolerance y’all teach, it should be love. Also, the mother is clearly telling her son about love, and as a teenager I will tell all adults and parents that us kids will learn about sex in preschool, so I find it responsible that this child is learning about sex from his mom rather than another 6 year old. Also, I find it funny that while people say’seek God, love your neighbor, and avoid sin’ sometimes forget the first two parts when avoiding what they think as sin comes up. I also believe that all premarital intercourse is not right.

So uh… did my post get deleted? Do I smell censorship? If so, then some people seriously need to take a good look at themselves and ask some important questions…

Why can’t any of us find the balance that it is okay to find someone attractive but faith tells us it is not okay to engage in sexual behavior? Honestly we keep going to the two extremes and never find the true Christian compromise.

And this coming from someone who walks the talk. 👍

I think sometimes people in the US think that you cannot say “something is wrong” or “that is a sin” because that would mean “judging”. And I say the US, because I’ve been to other countries where people do not have a problem with speaking out loud about Catholic values, because they believe them to be true, Here Americans seem to be ashamed of Catholic teachings and they prefer to shut up and let **sin **go triumphant. Acceptance is the new religion, and tolerance the new God. Remember what Jesus said to the prostitute? Your sins have been forgiven. Now, go and sin no more. Some people would be sayong oh Jesus, you are judging her as a sinner …

Regarding “teaching” a 6 year old about sex. That is not teaching, that is abusing. You are still a kid in school, so you have a long time to go in learning and discerning what is prudent and what is not. Did you learn all math in one year? What about history? Did you know about the nazis at 8? Let children be children, please.

And again, please try to love your neighbor in a REAL way. Teaching kids about gay sex … that kid is your neighbor, and he/she is not ready for that. That is not love. Telling a gay neighbor that the salvation of their souls is at risk and that we will be judged by God is an act of love,. We want them to be in Heaven. That is real love. Telling them, it is OK to be gay, it is telling them you may go to Hell but we don’t care about that as long as you are happy in this life. That is cheap love for your neighbor. That is why we have Church teachings: love the sinner, detest the sin. And that goes for each one of us, all of us are sinners.

May the Lord be with you.

I don’t demonize my gay friends. They let me believe what I choose. Very often it is us, the Christians, who are already putting them through hell on earth. That’s not my job as a Christian. I love them and understand them since often I face the same temptations.

Priests cannot be married either, and they control their urges for life. Do you think priests’ urges are any less than homosexual urges? What about teenage boys. They have urges and cannot be married. Should we all just toss self control out the window and do whatever our urges compel us to do? Humans (with the help of the sacraments) are supposed to practice self control (temperance). We are not animals. That’s what sets us apart from animals. If one’s cross in life is simply to stay celibate, I’d consider that a blessing!
