666 Holy Number in Islam?

I am looking into this, is 666 considered a Holy number in Islam?
 
No, it’s not. Islam doesn’t have any such concept as ‘holy numbers’.
 
Ok, I am letting my Spanish, Native American, Scottish, and German temper flare, and quite frankly I do not care at the moment… I came here to learn. I came here to explore Catholism. I knew my mother was Catholic (died young) and I also wanted to know more as well because I know she had me christened as a baby. And you know what? Maybe I was just searching for a ghost, a connection…time to move on.

To be honest what has turned me off from the idea of converting is not the non-catholics, but the attitudes of the Catholics I have found here. I did not believe it when people warned me about Catholics, I defended this faith many a times, and I do think we owe the early monks a debt of gratitude for protecting and hand copying down the ancient texts.

Not all of you, some seem pretty decent, but the majority are behaving in an extremely rude and arrogant manner. I have been to many a religious board in my search, and true, non are perfect and all squabble, but the attacks here on others from different faiths are un freaking believable! You even attack people from your own faith!

I wish someone would explain to me what exactly you are trying to accomplish by this behavior. Do you think by cutting someone down, using left handed comments and compliments, and passive aggressive tactics and attacks are going to shine a light before men? Is that the example you guys are going for? Because let me tell you, it is not working. I am disgusted.

Why in the world would I want to be a part of this?

Go ahead, let the attacks on me fly, I am expecting it, but I will no longer respond or react to any because that is what bullies want, a response to feed their anger. I will not react.

OK, for the record I did not post this to make fun of Islam or Muslims. Far from that. I just want to know the facts about Islam and the number 666. Thanks.

Please do not use this thread to vent on Islam. There are other places to do that. This is an intellectual question and is not designed to defame anyone or any group. Period.

Now, if anyone has any real information on this subject, please comment here.

All of us are searching for the answers to life. Catholocism is the answer, and that is what we Catholics belive and fight for. It is sad that you saw the bad side of many Catholics, but remeber we are all mere men. The history of our faith is a testament to the fact that those who call themselves catholics are capable of being great sinners or saints. It is not hard to find a Catholic who falls into either category.

I urge you to not base your search for truth on the actions of men because the truth stands independent of our actions. We have found that truth in our faith, and we pray that you realize that you too can find that truth here.

Don’t let comments on an internet forum prevent you from finding God. That would be ridiculous.
Get off the internet and go to church, meet people,priests and learn the right way and don’t try to interpret a faith by some peoples flippant comments.
 
The reason 666 is considered an inauspicious number is not because of the Book of Revelation, because the Book itself was simply invoking the art of numerology, where the number 6 has many meanings. One of those meanings means “imperfection”, because 6 is one short of 7, and 7 is considered the “perfect” number.

But 666 need not be considered necessarily “evil”, from a numerological perspective. Add 6 + 6 + 6 and you get 18; add 1 + 8 and you get 9, which is the number of “completion”. The number 7 also means completion, but 9 carries that idea of “completion” further.

A number that is considered sort of “sacred”, especially by the Shi’ites, is 19.

I have noticed a lot of animosity lately on this board as well. But still WAY in the minority of posters. IMO some of the posters above were way out of line with their comments. I wonder what made them do it?

Still, I have found some absolutely holy and brilliant people posting on this forum, and the vast majority are not arrogant or bullies. Any questions you have about Catholicism can probably be answered here, and answered better than anywhere else.

Perhaps you just stumbled across some posters who were having a bad day. I urge you to stay a while longer.

PS Kadaveri is more than welcome to stay as well. Thanks for keeping your cool…

I cannot be charitable about a religion that wants to destroy not only our way of life, but our faith as well! Every day you hear of some new atrocity committed by Muslims but people keep looking the other way.

Make an uncomplimentary remark about Islam and someone immediately has a fit, but when a Muslim makes a comment like may Allah curse those who insult Muhammad, again everyone looks the other way! Double standards!

I did a google search and nothing relevant came up for 666 in Islam.

This could be only superstition of some individuals. There is no sactitiy of any numbers mentioned in Quran .

Nevermind, whenever a divine guidance comes from GodAllahYHWH, the worldly people don’t understand it readily, and say it is controversial, like it happened to Jesus so it is no strange that it has happened to PromisedMessiahImamMahdi 1835-1908. Ultimately the truth will prevail.
