I was reading about the St. Benedict medal off of fisheaters.com, which looks like a respectable website, and came across this:

*“Most people wear the Medal around their necks; some bury it in the foundations of buildings in order to bless them, hang them in their homes, or keep them in their car. When used in specific circumstances for a specific effect, such as when placed against a sick part of the body for healing, one should pray 6 Glorias, 6 Aves, and 6 Paters.” *

666? Is that just coincidence? I just found it a little strange. Thanks.

Hmm. I have recently purchased a St. Benedict medal… but the suggestion of the 6 Paters, Glorias and Aves… were not included with the medal. So… I don’t know. To be honest, I have never heard of that.

My medal came with an english translation of the latin text… which is ON the medal… (i.e., Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux - meaning, The Holy Cross is my Light… among other sayings). But that is all that came with it. No suggestions of any type or specific number of prayers.

You could maybe just say… “St. Benedict, pray for us”… followed by one each… Pater, Gloria and Ave. This would be a simple way, to give Glory to God… through the intercession of St. Benedict. Hope this helps.

A lot of people who should know better get their knickers in a knot over the number 666. I am not one of those. It smacks too much of numerology and superstition. OK, it got trotted out in Revelations. Yawn. :yawn: So what?

This attitude of mine also includes the number 13, another number with an undeserved reputation.

I bought one years ago, got the priest to bless it. And only take it off for a shower. These prayers are not compulsory. I imagine it’s an effort to take the 666 and make it good. like a reparation. Much like the satanic cults 3am black masses being done at 3am as a sort of mock of Christs death at 3pm.

I believe the number in Revelation is six hundred and sixty six, whereas the number of those prayers adds up to 6+6+6=18
