Hi SufiThird heaven? So what’s the second and the first heaven?
Before asking us for further explanation, please tell us (or only me) what each heaven is called in the Quran. The only sky named by Quran is the one closest to the earth (semaeddunya):
Fussilat [12] So He completed them as seven firmaments in two Days and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard. Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge.
So this is only one of the seven skies! What are the other six called in the Quran? How are they described and distinguished, if any? Likewise, I would like to know the reason for the similarity between the sky and the earth on the basis of the number seven:
At-Talaq [12] Allah is He Who created seven Firmaments and of the earth a similar number. Through the midst of them (all) descends His Command: that ye may know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah comprehends all things in (His) Knowledge.
Please also note that the Quran always uses the land “ard” in singular form although it generally attaches the plural marker to the word “sky” (sema).
Waiting for your responses, peace unto you
