I watch this show pretty frequently, I think Pat Robertson is a good person, I dont agree with him on everything, but for the most part, our beliefs line up, I like how he gives personal comments on current news headlines. Near the end of the show, Pat and the co host always pray and mention a few names, sort of like “Im getting the name Mindy, she is suffering terrible headaches, God is taking this away, claim it and say amen”

The show last night, during this segment, Pat said " There is man named Michael, he has been struggling to find God, has been praying asking for a sign, that sign is on the way". I couldnt believe it!!! I think this was meant for me, before this, I had always wondered if they just make up names, but have a different opinion now. Im just curious if anyone else thinks this is significant or something I should do to ‘claim it’?

It was significant to you, God works in many ways.

Before I became Catholic I had struggled much with faith. I begged God on my knees in my living room for a sign of if I should move toward Catholicism or plug in at a new evangelical church.

Trying to plug in to my evangelical church after that didn’t really go anywhere and I decided to google map the nearest Catholic Church. I had just moved so it was new to me. After the mass, there was an announcement to visit the ministry fair. I did and told my story to someone who gave me a hug and welcomed me to meet the RCIA coordinator and his wife, both my age and both converts.

I later found out this was the first time they ever did this “ministry fair”, it was scheduled one Sunday a year thereafter, and that day was the day I happened to go.

People can say it was coincidence…perhaps it was, but it was profoundly impactful to me regardless. And that said I tend to think God directed that knowing exactly what I needed.

I pray you come to understand the sign you received and that your seeking of God will lead you into the comfort of his embrace.

And even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Personally, I wouldn’t believe Pat Robertson if we were in the same room and he told me the building was on fire and there were flames in that same room!

It sounds kinda like a horoscope and a little vague to me; that statement can mean a lot of different things to each of the Michaels who watched the show that day. You can find God in the Church that Jesus Himself started, while He was still with us: The Catholic Church.

When I was a Pentecostal this was a pretty common practice where a Pastor would say things like “there’s someone here tonight who has been suffering severe headaches”…or “someone has a bad toothache…God wants to heal you now”…of course with a few hundred people attending the chances are more than good that there will be one or more in the audience who are so afflicted…but…even if the message is nothing more than odds on chances that you were not the only Michael watching you can still turn it to your advantage and seek a deeper relationship with God:thumbsup:

I agree with the other poster - Michael is a common name. I’m not convinced that these tv preachers just don’t make things up. As far as Pat Robertson goes, well I think I’ll just keep my opinion of him to myself.

I’m extremely sceptical of anyone claiming to have these sorts of “physic” abilities. Ask yourself first if they really have these abilities, and secondly if they do do they come from god or from somewhere else.

Peace be with you Brother.

While I agree with Deacon Jeff ((name removed by moderator)) and Coachdenis (about the broken clock) as well as Peter26, I must also add that there are plenty of such fake “Faith Healers” out there, ready to exploit the troubled lives (and bank accounts) of the faithful believers. They often talk of “sowing”, an act of donating large sums to their cause, in return of “Hope for the future”.

My advise to you is “see the fruits, then know the tree”, as Jesus Himself said “A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.” Matthew 12:33). See the fruit of the preacher, then let the Holy Spirit show you if he is from God or not.

Having said that, I, personally, know several believers who have the gift of “Words of knowledge” (many of them are priests) who may give such messages, which turn out to be very true indeed. You may come across more at a later time. I ask that you **not **treat them all sceptically, but to discern as to their true origins.

Feel free to write to me if I can help you further.

Dominus vobiscum.

Yep, dad was Michael E. Hovey
Brother is Michael A. Hovey
And Michael A. has a son,
Michael L. Hovey. Not a rare name at all, at least not in my family.

Mr Robertson creates his image on making extremely superficial remarks on subjects of supposed concern.

Please look BELOW the surface - of everything !!!

OK - God sent a sign - me - saying this. Take it seriously!
