Hi,I was wondering if there are any good Catholic apologetic websites you guys use that has info on 7th day adventists? My sister-in-law is one, and my brother is getting sucked into their anti catholic nonsense. I talked to them yesterday and, I gotta say, they are the most heard headed persons I have talked to in my life. They told me, that if it is not in the bible, they will not believe me. I told them that not everything is in the bible. I could not even use Early Church fathers with them because they arent in the bible. And everytime I tried talking they would talk right over me very rudely. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Actually on the ‘Faith’ tab up on the top border of this page, you can find info on their page under ‘Non-Catholic religions’.

Right now, that’s the only site I know of that is credible. Hopefully others have more site links.

Thanks for the info, listening to the talk right now. Funny how they think that Catholics are out to get them, when history has always shown that Catholics are the ones that are mostly persecuted.

Ask them, How long was the abomination in Daniel 8:13 suposed to last?

This can not be answered using Daniel 8:14 because the Papacy didn’t exist around 550 BC.

Also, ask him for the list of authoritive NT books, where are they listed in the Bible itself?

Ask him to read Romans 14, and ask him afterwards what days did christians worship on?

Hi all…

I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience with SDA’s. Just like any other denominations i’m sure there are loving ones, and while others are hard headed, and out to just judge how wrong the rest of the world is.
I’m an SDA, but the bible teaches us not to be legalist, but to be humble, loving, caring and most importantly not be judgemental to anyone. Why we position ourselves toward Catholicism, bible, history have been misunderstood by the Catholics.

Say regarding our diets, we believe that we’re responsible for our health as everyone is. thru healthy body outcomes healthy mind, thus healthy character can easily be built upon it. Our teaching includes being vegetarian, living healthy lifestyle avoiding coffee, cigarettes, we suggest complete holistic care of the Lord’s temple because we’ve been bought with a High Price on the cross. We respond it with love and full understanding that God wants us to be perfect, just like our Father. If one still cannot leave meaty diet, there are selections which God himself prescribed for us since the beginning of time, that’s He gives guidelines what’s clean and unclean. Though impossible to follow for some, Holy Spirit will guide us through wisdom and love in selecting what’s good for us and what’s not good.
Regarding the sabbath, discussed in this thread, in Romans 14… Let’s look at the book Romans itself whom it’s addressed to: Romans, at the time to be converted to christians, yet there are jewish christians who still kept many of the OT jewish sabbaths (seven annual jewish holidays) in their christian lives. But Paul says not to take considerations when jewish christians chose to follow their ancestors’ ways, let them. But the roman christians don’t have to. But Paul didn’t refer to the Moral Sabbath, the seventh day sabbath, because he himself was acustomed to go into synagoge on sabbaths as in Acts 17:2, 18:4.

What Romans 14 means, we shouldn’t judge anyone wth what they eat and what they drink and days they observe, it still holds true that those things will never save sinful souls, only through Jesus and our acknowledgement of His plan of salvation through baptism, just like Jesus did, we can all see the glory of His coming. Keeping his commandments can only be made possible through complete surrender to Him and taking up His cross. God bless…

the starting point of that is the decree to restore Jerusalem at 457 BC, has nothing to do with Papacy. Then to know what “cleansing of the temple” means we need to understand the jewish tradition of “cleansing the temple”–as we all believe those traditions are shadows of what to come. It comes once a year (atonement day) at the tenth day of seventh month where israel people are reconciled with God, their sins removed. Those who remained having sins are cut out forever from Israel (Hence the camp is free from sin that year). But in process, the judgement must start first identifying (please refer to Israel’s sanctuary services to understand what day of atonement means in Leviticus).

About NT books we recognize what Eusibius canonized in 321 being authoritative, 27 books.

About Romans 14 i’ve already explained. Hope it helps…

Adventists are sweet loving people. My grandparents are Seventh Day Adventists and they are the best people in the whole wide world. I used to attend sabbath school when I was a kid and I loved it so much. They focus much on the Bible and the teachings of Ellen G. White (about dieting etc.) but they don’t talk “trash”. Adventists are good people and according to a recent study, Adventists live longer than the average person
