Generally, I would say that six years old is a bit young for a girl to be forced to marry. BTW, in the Catholic Church, is there a minimum age for marriage? Would it be a valid marriage in Catholicism for an eleven year old to get married? What is the minimum age? Also, in Catholicism, is it OK for the mother and father to choose the marriage partner for their daughter?
According to current canon law, minimum age for a female is 14, male is 16. However, at no time is it allowed for people that young to marry if it is against local laws. It is ok for a parent to choose the spouse if you mean find the person for them. It is NOT possible to have an arranged marriage, as that shows a level of pressure placed on the person.

This site has good information on Catholic rules.

If a dad is really that mad to sell a girl , there are other family members like mother , uncle , aunt , grandparents to protest. Also neighbours can contact Police .

When Imam comes to bride for her consent , mom , bro , uncle , aunt must encourage her to say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO .
JL: Evidently there is no civil or koranic prohibition against selling an underage girl. Otherwise there would be no need for anyone to be there to ENCOURAGE an eight year old child to say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

When the Imam comes to a child bride for her consent, he should SEND for the police, but of course that would do no good. The very fact an Imam is apart of such a thing is evidence it is part of Islamic teaching. How ridiculous to think an 8 year old child can give consent to such a thing in the first place.

I remember when i was 8 years old and we used to play weddings. At that age, i had no idea what the real meaning of a lifelong commitment was, and i sure didnt know what sex was. Playing weddings, is what an 8 year old should be doing, not taking part in the real thing.
Sorry to be so graphic with this next point, but what about when it comes to consummating the marriage? I remember laughing when i saw my first male appendage, it was a friend of the family who went to the toilet and i accidently opened the door, thank goodness he was same age, i laughed and wanted to know what that was. This also happened at 8. I didnt know the purpose of it, or anything.
Can you imagine how terrifying it would be for an 8/9 year old knowing she was going to have a fully grown mans appendage ‘shoved’ inside of her? How terrifying it would be not knowing what was going on? But yet, it seems that islam allows this to still go on.
I will never understand how muslims can follow mahammad, especially since he did all the above of what i mentioned. Taking a young girl from her swing, been terrified of not knowing what is going on, then to have your virginity taken away by a 53 year old man, how traumatic!
I will never ever have respect for your prophet, EVER!

O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will, and you should not treat them with harshness, that you may take away part of the Mahr you have given them, unless they commit open illegal sexual intercourse. And live with them honourably. If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and Allah brings through it a great deal of good.

She ever complained to anyone that she was forced in to marriage ? When God gave choice to wives of the Prophet to end married life in exchange of wealth , why Mother Aisha (ra) was first to respond : I want the messenger of God ?

"O Prophet! Say to your wives:
If you desire the life of this world and its adornments, then come and I will bestow its goods upon you, and I will release you with a fair release.

But if you desire God and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter, th en verily God has laid in store for you an immense reward for such as you who do good." ( 33:28-29 )

Aishah’s (ra ) reply was:
“Indeed I desire God and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter,” and her response was followed by all the others.

“I looked at the full moon and compared it to the face of prophet of God and I could not decide which one was more beautiful.” This is how she felt of her husband and conveyed it to others in her mature old age.

I am sorry, and with all due respect to you and to your religion, which has many good points about it, still I find your statement here to be problematical. Here’s why:
  1. It is not reasonable to expect a six year old girl to complain about this. She is just put into that situation and at six years old, her mind is not yet developed to the point that she would be capable of making legal appeals to the decision to sell her into marriage.
  2. When she did get to that stage of being capable of legal appeals, would she not be frightened and scared to death that her neck would be cut and she would be decapitated because of her complaints?

JL: We are not talking about WOMEN, so what does the koran say about an 8 year old girl who is NOT A WOMAN, being sold into a so called marrage? It is the Imam who should being saying NOOOOOOOOOO. Why would any sane Imam think a child would wish to be married.

I am highlighting this because **Muslim Woman **seem to miss this point.

She is beating and killing every camel about the bush except for this one, she has completely missed out.

**Just picture a six year old … **what does she look like? She may be able to say a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ whether to have a doll/candy or not, but does she has any ability to decide for herself at that age about important issue such as marriage? Does she has the power to refuse? Was not she under the guardian of her parents? Can she object to her parents’ decision? Just think about what a six year looks like … .

MW says Aisha (at six) did not complain and so it was not a forced marriage! I am glad this seems to be a Muslim mentality and being frankly stated here, so that the world may know what true Islam is. I, for one will not have anything to do with it and frankly speaking, I think the world thing is utterly disgusting.

  • According to hadith in Bukhari and Muslim, Aisha is said to have joined Muhammad on the raid that culminated in the Battle of Badr, in 624 CE. However, because no one below the age of 15 was allowed to accompany raiding parties, Aisha should have been at least 15 in 624 CE and thus at least 13 when she was married following the Hijra in 622 CE.
  • Ibn Hisham’s recension of Ibn Ishaq’s Sirat Rashul Allah, the earliest surviving biography of Muhammad, records Aisha as having converted to Islam before Umar ibn al-Khattab, during the first few years of Islam around 610 CE. In order to accept Islam she must have been walking and talking, hence at least three years of age, which would make her at least 15 in 622 CE.
  • Tabari also reports that Abu Bakr’s four children were all born during the Jahiliyyah, the pre Islamic period, which could be said to have ended in 610 CE, making Aisha at least 12 in 622 CE.
  • According to Ibn Hajar, Fatima was five years older than Aisha. Fatima is reported to have been born when Muhammad was thirty-five years old, meaning Aisha was born when he was forty years old, and thus 12 when Muhammad married at fifty-two.
  • According to the generally accepted tradition, Aisha was born about eight years before Hijrah. However, according to another narrative in Bukhari (Kitaab al-Tafseer) Aisha is reported to have said that at the time Surah Al-Qamar, the 54th chapter of the Qur’an , was revealed, “I was a young girl”. The 54th Surah of the Qur’an was revealed nine years before Hijrah. According to this tradition, Aisha had not only been born before the revelation of the referred Surah, but was actually a young girl, not even only an infant at that time. So if this age is assumed to be 7 to 14 years then her age at the time of marriage would be **14 **to 21.
  • According to almost all the historians, Asma the elder sister of Aisha, was ten years older than Aisha. It is reported in Taqreeb al-Tehzeeb as well as Al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah that Asma died in the 73rd year after migration of Muhammad when she was 100 years old. Now, obviously if Asma was 100 years old in the 73rd year after Migration to Medina, she should have been 27 or 28 years old at the time of migration. If Asma was 27 or 28 years old at the time of hijrah, Aisha should have been 17 or **18 **years old at that time. Thus, Aisha - if she got married in 1 AH (after Migration to Medina) or 2 AH - was between 18 to 20 years old at the time of her marriage.
  • According to many Ahadith in Bukhari, it is believed Aisha participated in the battle of Badr and Uhud. Also in Bukhari (Kitabu’l-maghazi) Ibn `Umar states that the Prophet did not permit me to participate in Uhud, as at that time, I was 14 years old. But on the day of Khandaq, when I was 15 years old, the Prophet permitted my participation. So if it was not allowed to participate in Uhud for people younger than 15, then Aisha would be atleast 15 in those battles, making her age atleast 13 to 14 at the time of marriage.
  • Tabaqat ibn Sa’d, 8:58; Ansab al-Ashraf, 1:410. Opinions are in disagreement concerning her marriage with Muhammad. Their marriage seems to have taken place either two of five years after the Migration (Usd al-ghaba, 5:501)

However, because no one below the age of 15 was allowed to accompany raiding parties,
Where is the authentic source for your claim!!!

Sahih Muslim, Book 008, Number 3309:
“'A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) married me when I was six years old, and I was admitted to his house at the age of nine. She further said: We went to Medina and I had an attack of fever for a month, and my hair had come down to the earlobes. Umm Ruman (my mother) came to me and I was at that time on a swing along with my playmates. She called me loudly and I went to her and I did not know what she had wanted of me. She took hold of my hand and took me to the door, and I was saying: Ha, ha (as if I was gasping), until the agitation of my heart was over. She took me to a house, where had gathered the women of the Ansar. They all blessed me and wished me good luck and said: May you have share in good. She (my mother) entrusted me to them. They washed my head and embellished me and nothing frightened me. Allah’s Messenger (, may peace be upon him) came there in the morning, and I was entrusted to him.”

(E) (A)

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64:
“*Narrated 'Aisha:*that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death).”

(E) (A)

Even he wanted to marry a much younger than that poor 6 years Aisha:
مسند أحمد:
أن رسول الله ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏رأى ‏ ‏أم حبيبة بنت عباس ‏ ‏وهي فوق الفطيم قالت فقال ‏ ‏لئن بلغت بنية ‏ ‏العباس ‏ ‏هذه وأنا حي لأتزوجنها

Of course, I am not an expert on Islam, and I am aware that things can be taken out of context.
From what you have written here, it sounds as though Aisha was 12 or more. But there is discussion concerning Aisha’s age of consumation on wikiIslam and according to the discussion there, her age was much lower. For example:
From Abu Dawud, Vol. 2, #2116: "Aisha said, “The Apostle of Allah married me when I was seven years old.” (The narrator Sulaiman said: “Or six years.”). “He had **** with me when I was 9 years old.”
Please see:
wikiislam.com/wiki/Aisha%27s_Age_of_Consummation
How would you explain the discrepancy between Abu Dawud, Vol. 2, #2116 and what you have written?
Thanks.

… scared to death that her neck would be cut and she would be decapitated because of her complaints?
lol , why is that ? Quran says to cut neck of wife if she wants divorce ? Where is the verse ?

Sam once posted a story where a non-Muslim woman refused Prophet Muhammed (pbuh). Nobody tortured her .

And remember , it was the God Almighty who asked wives of the Prophet (peace be upon them all ) if they want divorce. It was Mother Aisha (ra ) who first responded that she wants to remain as the wife of the God’s last Messenger.

There are many girls of 9 yrs & under 9 , who are either forced in to prostitution or enjoying unethical lives in the so-called free societies. Instead of thinking of a blessed marriage which took place more than a thousand years ago , it’s better if we think how we can do something for those girls who are not blessed like Mother Aisha (ra).

Goodness me! What is this post trying to tell us?

There was and is and is to come, prostitution of all kinds in all ages in the history of mankind. It is better if we can do something for these children - what? by having sex with them so that our dirty old men can have their fun?

… .

There is always murdering and stealing … . maybe help them and legalize the profession … . … ? Or cut off their hands? (and necks).

Reuben, the topic is : 8-year-old Saudi girl divorces 50-year-old husband

** I admire that brave young Saudi Muslim girl who did what the grown up catholics cannot do. The topic needs some correction. In Islam, No wife can divorce the husband. Divorce is like dismissal. It is the prerogative of the husband to divorce the wife.

Wife can however resign. The word for that is “Khula’a”. She can apply for Khula’a which is equivalent to resignation. After carefully listening to her grounds of cruelty or incapacitance of her husband, she can be granted complete separation by the order of the court. In that case, the husband will be told to let go the lady. She may have to suffer some financial loss, Dower money.**

islam is false!
allah is not a god.
hes probably the devil?

wouldnt doubt it at all, have fun with your 70 “virgins” where ever you guys are going! what god is going to condone sex in heaven? really do you think your going to get that, thats some serious perversion, not only that you are being decieved like no other.

muhammed was the false “prophet”

save your souls! COME TO JESUS, THE WAY AND THE TRUTH.

Is there an equality concept in an Islamic marriage? From my perspective, it is not very ‘honorable’ for the wife in being ‘dismissed’ - just like that, while she cannot ‘dismiss’ her husband if she wants to. Why do you use two different terms in an Islamic divorce, if it is not to lower the position of women in Islamic marriage?

**Reuben, What woman rights you have in your bible? There is no liberty to get divorce in church. There is no liberty officially, religeusly. That is why the christians revolted against the church and went to court for divorce. King Henry the 8th revolted against the Roman Church and made a church of his own i.e. church of England. A new system came into being and is still very strong. That is called the Protestants.

Please before discussing any matter about divorce or the rights of Muslim woman, you should first look into your bible for any rights of Catholic women and for any right to divorce. Thanks.**

If you cannot answer my questions, I am not insisting. It is fine with me. We can let the questions remain unanswered. After all everything is quite clear here except for you guys trying to evade the obvious. And believe me, you are not going to fool anyone. 🤷
