My sister call me this morning, complaing about her son.She said he was happy for about 1 hour, then he turn fighting mad.Could this be bipolar disorder. Myself I think it’s a displine problem. When I keep him he’s the perfect child. (Not perfect but you know what i mean.) My sister also tells me that her son tells he hate her, tells her to shut up,so on.I do know that she gets angry and tells him whatever, but do not think she whips.

my question is do you think he needs to see a doctor,or he just need and old time butt whipping.

She is a single parent. The father takes for the son,he blames there sons problem on my sisiter the (mother).

Forgive the misspelled words.

Thanks for any help or any idea on how to help my sister to gain controlled over son. :sad_yes:

The problem is that the son has been taught that it is appropriate to be disrespectful and blame everything on his mother. Your sister needs to be very firm with him. She needs to not get angry and yell, but let him know that his behavior is unacceptable. She also needs to give him consequences for his bad behavior, consistently. It would also be helpful for her son to see other people treating his mother well and that no one will put up with him being disrespectful towards her.

I’ve been dealing with this myself, following an abusive marriage and divorce. Your sister really needs to be built up right now and she is really going to dig deep to find the strength to fight this. Has she been to counseling? That is a really good place to start.

I would consult a doctor first, just to rule anything out. Especially if it is a marked CHANGE in his behavior.

Firm boundaries are also always good and necessary for any child, any age, with any issues!

He did tell the school counselor that he acted like this b/c his parents were divorced.
